And in breaking news, our darling Odie has won Reserve Champion Advanced Medium horse at the British Dressage Winter Championships.

I don't have more info than that, Lyndal is still dealing with the aftermath of the win, the mounted presentation and the trip home etc, but I'll post a full report when I can.

Just to say I am so stonkingly proud of her and our big brown boy, I can't even. And I am so overwhelmingly grateful to Gareth Hughes and his meticulous coaching I can't even that either.

If anything or anyone illustrates how important it is to not give up, to have faith in yourself no matter what bu****it other people tip over you, it would be this result.

Lyndal is a lion. And Odie is the goodest, bestest boy.

He tries so hard, every single time. Such a good boy!!!! And such a blessing to have him in our lives. Lovely ride by Lyndal, so now it's take a deep breath before we plunge with both the boys into the British Winter Championships. Eeeeek!

Afternoon, all! Just a quick public service announcement:

Due to arena maintenance, there will be no arena hire available from Monday March 17th through to Thursday March 20th.

The outdoor will be available on the Friday and over the weekend, but noindoor availability due to hosting the next Les Friend clinic.

Both arenas back to normal availability from Monday March 24th.

Well, last night saw the last of the 2025 Summer Series Dressage, held in conjunction with Sydney Dressage Club.

All the thanks go to SDC and the most amazing Gail Benson and Karen Lever, the powerhouses behind the scenes. Just the best people who make it a pleasure to do business!

Thanks to the judges, steward, and the pencillers - especially the Ballodair Park staff who put their hands up to go extra hours after long work days. And also for how hard they work every comp day to make sure the place is ready for visitors. Outstanding. Team work makes the dream work, every time.

To all the competitors, thank you. We appreciate so much you trusting us to host you here. It's been wonderful seeing you on your young horses, giving them a taste of competition and bustle.

It won't be too much longer before construction here is completed, and then we'll be expanding our competition repertoire. I'm really looking forward to it!

Well, a great day in the office overnight for Lyndal and our two big black boys Dean and Odie. They both won their tests, with 70% and 76% respectively. Lots of 8s, and hugely encouraging remarks from the judges.

I sound like a broken record but I am just so proud of Lyndal and what she's achieving, and I'm so proud of our boys who are working their socks off and trying their hearts out.

And, of course, I continue to be just awed and humbled by the stupendous Gareth Hughes, who ... well. He is one in a squillion bajillion.

So FB is doing weird stuff, arbitrarily encrypting message strings so suddenly there is no way to communicate. If you've messaged us for an arena booking (or any other enquiry) and you haven't heard back at some point that day, please assume I've been locked out of answering you and check your messenger encryption status.

In particular AMBER JOY I haven't replied because I can't contact you in any way on FB right now. I can't even locate your personal page.

Well, apologies for taking so long to get this finalised, but now it is so phew!

Ballodair Park will be hosting a Summer Dressage Series early in the new year. Full details to come, including how to enter etc, but for now I can give you all the dates (subject to judge availability, and we're working on that now):

Friday February 7

Wednesday February 12

All comp dates will be choose your own test, and we'll be alternating between EA and FEI level tests, so everybody gets a chance to prepare for Willinga Park at the end of February, as well as earning qualifying scores for the big shows later in the calendar.

Please hold off on asking for details right now, we'll be back with all the skinny ASAP!

Ten days until the big day. Yikes, where did this year go?????

Ok, so just to let everyone know we're closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day and New Year's Day, all other days we're open if you're looking for somewhere to ride.

Please remember, as often as you can, to give us at least a day's notice for a booking. This is because sometimes FB plays silly buggers and holds up delivery of messages.

I got complacent recently and stopped taking my surefire immune booster cocktail so of course now I'm fighting a bug, but once I'm 100% again I'll organise some photos of the new arena area. That will be completed in the new year and then things around here will really get exciting!

In the meantime, the happiest of holiday seasons to everyone. Please take care, drive safely, party merrily, spend the holiday season in the way that best suits you, no excuses and no apologies, and we'll see you when we see you!
