Glad to have played a small role among a group of dedicated professionals

My retired 18 year old TB mare Summer had a really rough winter season with a hoof issue causing her to rapidly lose 150kg over a week, yep, she was even worse than the first image. I have never seen her so thin or lame in her life (and I have owned her a decade & have witnessed a fractured leg + torn suspensory ligament).

I wanted to take the time to thank the professionals that helped me get her sorted.

Garrett Newton Farrier was our saving grace. He quickly rushed to our rescue with some corrective shoeing, care & advice. Seriously couldn’t have pulled her through without your help. I am eternally grateful

Christine Brown for having her on your glorious property, it truely is the dream life for retirees.

Samantha Boorman & Chantelle Prosser for feeding, loving & medicating her everyday when I couldn’t get there

We are still working through some residual things in her body from the ongoing lameness but she’s back to her happy, fat & paddock sound self.

Happy New Year to all of our clients. Bookings are now being taken for 2025. This is for current clients and we are also excited to welcome new clients as we have availability to take new clients in 2025.

In a world full of modern materials sometimes I feel we just have to “shoe them”. I’m the first to put my hand up and say I love modern materials and continue to move with the times but basic and sound should always be the goal. Here’s 5 weeks difference with a basic shoe on a standardbred pacer.

We are currently extensively trialling the Mustad Equinet app to provide you with a professional appointment service the feedback recently from current clients has been well received. Our opening may be suited to a performance or competition barn or also general horse owner.

Todays case a broodmare which injured her ddft wedged heartbar and an extension applied.

Treatment plate at today. Very minimal hoof wall to nail so a wall cast was added to the standard procedure 🐴

The wait was over today. This mare injured herself in a paddock quartered her hind foot. The loose section was removed and the hoof was medicated and placed in a full foot cast with a glue on heart bar for 4 weeks, today we removed it and the results are incredible she was sound immediately after the cast was applied and sound walking in a wrap today.

As this business is ever evolving, I’ve decided to make some small changes that will benefit the overall service that is provided to our customers.
The following will apply:

🐴 payment on the completion of service via card reader or cash.(unless invoiced)
🐴booking your next appointment at the completion of service, on a cycle suited to your horses needs.
🐴 servicing areas on specified days of the week. (Applicable where possible)
🐴vet referrals, lameness,emergency cases, general shoengs from our home base will be booked for Friday’s (applicable where possible)


This process will have a teething process but I’m hoping will be beneficial to everyone.

Hey guys at this stage we have made the decision to not take on any new regular clients for the moment, sorry to anyone this disappoints. The vet referrals, lameness and shoeings from home will continue.
Unfortunately there is only so many I can get done throughout the week and I feel like im missing out on things at home.
