From 11:59pm tonight (Sunday 2 August) everyone in Victoria aged 12 years and over will need to wear a face covering when they leave home.

This is a critical step in slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victoria. We know that face coverings help stop droplets spreading when someone speaks, laughs, coughs, or sneezes, including for someone who has coronavirus (COVID-19) but feels well.

Our front door will remain locked as per our COVID-19 Safe policy and masks must remain on when entering the building. On arrival please press the doorbell, on entering the building use the hand sanitiser provided. One family member per pet will be permitted.

Veterinary care is classified as a critical service under the public health law. If you need a letter of evidence for your border permit, please contact us.

Thank you for your patience, support and cooperation.

It’s a bitter sweet though, because I wormed all our chicken last weekend & we have a 14 day egg withhold 🤦🏼‍♀️ winter solstice is this Sunday though, so it won’t be long & they’ll be in full production & we will get to enjoy their eggs & hatch some chickens 🐣

Sometimes we have to operate on our own animals. Today I castrated Roger! We already have his daughter Lily so decided it was time to desex him. Desexing your pet is vital component of responsible pet ownership. And also to prevent potential disease & illness in the future.

is the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. Today was a serendipitous day!! Lauren & I first meet in 2005 when I was a new grad Vet & she was a fabulous Veterinary nurse at Holbrook. We both moved away, got married, had babies & kept in vague contact via the odd Facebook interaction. Then this year I started at Murray River Animal Hospital & shortly after so did Lauren! 15 years later we are back working together, unknowingly but definitely happy & very beneficially!

Hugh’s newest chook!

The Dutch bred breed has to be one of the most popular, distinctive and attractive types of backyard chickens in Australia. Barnevelders standout breed due to its unique plumage, quirky personality and of course the pretty and peculiar eggs that they lay. Can’t wait to show you her eggs!

Please be aware of poisonous mushrooms in both public areas and your own backyard. They can be deadly to both humans and animals. Seek veterinary advice immediately if you think your pet has ingested these.

AN IMPORTANT ALERT FOR DOG OWNERS:

Poisonous mushrooms including Death Cap mushrooms and Yellow-staining mushrooms are currently growing abundantly around Victoria as a result of the recent heavy rains. These are poisonous when ingested to both humans and pets. Dogs are more likely than cats to ingest mushrooms. Pets can develop a range of illnesses from eating wild mushrooms including a gastroenteritis type syndrome to severe life threatening disease and death. Pet owners should take particular care whilst walking their pets in areas where mushrooms may grow and where possible remove any mushrooms from their yard before they have a chance to eat them.

If your pet has ingested a wild mushroom, you can call the free Animal Poisons Centre on 1300 869 738 for advice.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

We will remember them.”

A Little Bit About Dr Jacqui Way

I am a Wife & Mum of 5, and live on a farm in the gorgeous North East of Victoria. With plenty of cows, sheep, horses, dogs & chooks.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Melbourne in 2005 and began my Veterinary career in mixed practice in rural NSW & Victoria. Between maternity leave times I also facilitated, trained and assessed Diploma of Veterinary Nursing students.

Now you can find me back in practice with an amazing team of highly experienced Vets & Veterinary Nurses at the Murray River Animal Hospital.
