Box Divvy is Community owned and run. This is a

fruit veg and grocery cooperative. We purchase as a group up to 40% cheaper than supermarkets. It’s a Smart coop and you get more of what you want than a normal coop. Box Divvy is a food box sharing system connecting growers & food producers directly with the Food. It is community owned and run designed to cut your food bill. You join online - there is no registration fee. https://www.boxdivvy.com/ You use an App on your phone or computer or a pad to order. Working with Western Sydney Diabetes Alliance - our aim is to provide accessible, inexpensive good quality fresh food.

4 DAY ORDER CYCLE – FOR Thursday pick up

Saturday 9pm – Order creation
It’s an OPT OUT SYSTEM so if you don’t want an order for the coming week, you must suspend prior to Friday 9pm. Your “WISH LIST VOTE” and any changes you wish to make to your household size must also be done by Friday 9pm. Sunday - Starting Order Published
Login take up to 3 things out and JOIN SPLITS. Tuesday 9pm - CUTOFF
Orders closed. Cards charged. There are 2 automatic processing’s, if those both decline - a $5 recharge fee is applied as it pays for someone to manually reprocess. You must pay BEFORE pick-up. Thursday- PICK UP. You must pick up day of delivery at the pick-up time or arrange with Hubster. PAYMENTS
You must pay for your order once committed to an order cycle. Once in an Order Cycle we cannot withdraw an order. It is your responsibility to suspend the correct weeks. ORDERING SYSTEM
Dead simple. You share boxes online using the App. SUSPENDING ORDERS
When you tick the date, wait, it will turn red to confirm suspension. You’re expected to order weekly or fortnightly. STARTING ORDER
There’s a Starting Order based on your weekly ‘wish list’ VOTE and you can take out up to 3 things. Every week BEFORE Order Creation do a Wish List Vote to help Hubster (person who organisers Hub) to set up Starting Order. SHARE BOXES known as SPLITS
If you wish for more, you join Splits and share boxes. You can suggest a box to share or to your Hubster. Such as saying to your group: “Who’d like to share a box of apples?”

At order cut-off you pay automatically online (Visa or Mastercard & Secure Eway Payment gateway) then boxes from growers & food wholesalers come to the Hubster’s house for packing. You pick up from their place or they may offer home delivery. FRUIT, VEG, BREAD, EGGS – Order, pay, receive this week
GROCERIES – Order, pay, receive next week due to fresh roasting of coffee and made to order. BREAD baker direct – Minimum HUB order total is $30
GROCERIES wholesaler direct – Minimum HUB order is $75. MEAT AND SEAFOOD (NEW) – Order every 4 weeks. READ THE AMOUNTS YOU ARE PURCHASING
Please check carefully if the items are single, handfuls, 500gm, 1 kg etc. Don't assume it's by one item. EXAMPLE: Cherries sold by the box, make sure you’re not putting in 5 thinking it's handfuls when it's boxes. Read the descriptions please. EXTRAS
There are ALWAYS extras as the box belongs to members so your Hubster will divvy extras when available. There is also usually a SWAP box - if you forget to customise your Starting Order, you can throw in some apples and take out some carrots that someone else did not want. You will get great value. COMMUNITY BOX
Many Hubster’s ask members if this SWAP BOX can become a COMMUNITY KINDNESS BOX given to a family in need. This is part of the Social Enterprise experience by being part of the Hub. NOT WANT AN ORDER? There are no contracts, you can suspend orders when you don’t want them. WANT EXACTLY 1 tomato 2 oranges? Then Box Divvy is not for you. This is a coop and things are in handfuls NOT exact items. You need to be flexible but you'll always get good value. We are a group of community minded people wanting to change the food system. Reduce packaging and pay our farmers fairly. By reducing our carbon footprint by 90% this means we buy in bulk as a group and then share it. We need to be a bit flexible. You will know roughly what you will get but you can’t get exact. We have a Packing Guide but the numbers will change as produce is smaller or larger. Mostly you will get extras overall. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT I SPEND? EASY. You will pay the STARTING ORDER PLUS if you join in SPLITS or ADD Groceries. At the bottom of MY ORDER you will see the MAX you will pay if all your SPLITS get over the line, any groceries you’ve ordered and the Starting Order. You can reduce the SPLITS or Groceries you joined BEFORE CUTOFF. PACKAGING
Much of the produce comes loose so please provide your Hubster with a NAME LABELLED BAG: ALSO - calico/wash nets to put handfuls in (do not expect your Hubster to provide paper bags please): Bring in your old icecream containers, for example, for the Hub to put soft stuff in. If you get an item in plastic, recycle it in your soft plastic bin. We don't interrupt the packing from the farmer. Farmers are trying to work out how to transport produce and it can’t always be plastic free - for the moment. The Sugar Cane bags are not strong, don't last and definitely not airtight. Cardboard and paper fall apart. New technology is being worked on. NOT FOR ME
If after you’ve tried it and Box Divvy is not working the way you want, then you can cancel membership. So? Join our group to make a difference. You have the power to do so. Cut your food bill significantly – Wow! The goal: to cut your food bill, without compromising on the quality, freshness and variety of food. With minimal effort, minimal packaging and food miles, and still paying farmers and suppliers a fair price for their produce.

A belated thank you to everyone who has helped on my healing heart journey! Those that provided me with delicious food so I didn’t have to think about cooking, to the community hub still ticking along while I rested, to my replacement packers saving the day while I couldn’t physically do it!
Community is everything ❤️‍🩹

26/03/2024

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here (apologies!) life has been v busy and social media has taken a back seat! Having two young boys always keeps me on my toes, we’ve had UK family visit, on leap day I proposed to my partner, I’ve just recently undergone major heart surgery and now recovering at home. ❤️‍🩹
Finally I feel the calm at the end of all the chaos and in a mentally good place to post. I’ll be honest I have no recipe content, no photos of food or much food related but I do have this cutie, my son Elliot, who gets excited knowing it’s “Box Divvy Thursday”.

A big thank you to my member Liz and Corrimal hubsters daughter Veronica who have been putting my packing to shame doing a beautiful job covering for me while I can put my feet up inside resting.
I love this community ❤️

You know what’s great about ordering as a community hub that many people may overlook when doing their usual supermarket shop, this is the ONLY waste from 40+ members. Cardboard in the recycling, soft unusable plastic in the bin now that red recycling has sadly ended. BUT no unnecessary packaging, no individual waste.

Here’s how I use the rest of what comes with each weeks delivery:
- clean potato bags used for large quantity ‘handful’ items
- onion bags kept & returned for reuse
- polystyrene & wax boxes kept & returned for reuse
- cardboard boxes reused for members orders
- large soft plastic bags used as my own bin liners
- large bread tags (from potato bags) kept to donate to “bread tags for wheelchairs” charity.
- my own bread bags used for members ’handful’ items
- Apple cardboard trays given to my sons daycare for arts & crafts

🤧🤒🤧 it’s been a week on, week off being sick for a few weeks, in this household which is no fun & there is a lot going round especially with the change in season. Here are my 3 easy natural remedies for colds:

- Honey Onion Cough syrup
Cut up one brown onion, put into a jar & pour over two tablespoons of honey. Leave on kitchen bench for 24 hours. Have a tablespoon of the liquid as needed. You can leave the onions in one jar or strain the liquid, don’t throw those onions away though- delicious fried up & put on top of a curry or stir fry! Keep in the fridge after the 24 hr period.

- Vitamin C gummies
1 cup of Juice of any kind (homemade or store bought) this is carrot, orange, apple, lemon, ginger & turmeric) & 1 cup of water in a pan. Sprinkle 4 tbsp quality gelatine powder, allow to bloom for a min or so.
Slowly heat on a low setting, add in vitamin C powder & tbsp honey. Here I’ve actually used Armaforce junior by biceuticals (contains vit C, A & Zinc). Heat until all dissolved, pour into moulds (silicone is easiest to get them out) and cool in fridge for few hours until set. Kids love them!

- Fire Cider Elixir
Garlic cloves (as many as you like)
Grated 2cm chunk ginger
Half lemon
1 Tbsp Apple cider vinegar
1 drop tea tree or eucalyptus oil (optional)
Pinch cayenne pepper (can omit if giving to young children)
1 Tbsp honey
Add cup of water & slowly bring to the boil. Strain & enjoy!
I doubled recipe here & added half an orange because why not! I’ve also added echinacea tea leaves this week to add to the cold fighting ingredients.

Hope these help any of those snotty, coughing family members!

Feeling the pinch $$$? This pasta bake was the simplest, tastiest & best value money meal of the week! The night before we’d had slow cooked lamb shanks & rather than wasting the leftover sauce I simply added it to a dish with cooked pasta, some sauted veggies, topped with cheese & baked! Yum!

I may not be a food photographer but the Eco Organics Tortellini were a big hit in our house last night, a simple dinner when you can’t be bothered to cook & at only $4.50 a packet even better. I made a simple sauce frying up a few veggies & herbs in some passata. Kids had the veggie ones & I had the red lentil & chilli!

Reason 568 why I love Box Divvy, today I was able to drop this kindness box to a friend going through an unimaginable time. This was all created with extras even after everyone got their extras & some of my own donated items, plus a members honey from their garden!
It was received with such warm gratitude 🥰

Have you ever made your own sauerkraut? It is one of the easiest frugal swaps you could make. Cabbage right now is $3 I used about 3/4 of one whole cabbage to make this jar & kept the rest for a stir fry.
Simple either thinly slice the cabbage with a knife or as I did “grate” with my Thermomix, or you could use a box grater. Then you will massage the cabbage with 2 tsp of salt, until liquid starts to release. Transfer to a jar & press the cabbage in compactly & leave a gap at the top & make sure all your cabbage is covered in liquid. (It needs to be covered for the fermentation to take pace effectively)
If needed place a stone or glass weight on top or as I did a couple of cabbage leaves do the trick.
Store in a dark cupboard for a week to ferment & watch those bubbles appear, transfer to a fridge when it’s ready.
I’ll post a video of the bubbly goodness too
A great way to get those good bacteria in, delicious on salads, sandwiches or my favourite on top of scrambled eggs in the morning!

Can you believe these two cakes are made from summer squash?! I wanted something a bit out of the ordinary to use up my stash with.
As summer squash is so similar to zucchini there were plenty of cake recipes out there. So I have a date, sultana & pecan squash slice & a chocolate squash cake!
What’s even better is these two will be out for my members to try at pick up time tomorrow 🤩

With the warm weather we’ve been loving our outdoor dinners, homemade burgers are always a win! With my youngest now starting on his food journey it’s great to have the delicious produce from Box Divvy on hand!
He loved his mini patty made with beef mince, & a side of sweet potato chips!
I find having a “make your own” set up it encourages my 3 year old to chose what he wants & therefore eat more!

Ps eye spy my dog strategically waiting under the table for any scraps dropped!

Pink Crumble!

Ingredients:

Compote;
- Bunch Rhubarb cut into inch pieces
- 1 Beetroot peeled & cut into small chunks
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder

Crumble topping;
- 1.5 cups almond meal (if nut free, blitz 1.5 cup oats)
- 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
- 100g butter melted, or 4tbs coconut oil, melted
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1tbs sweetener of choice (I use maple syrup)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method;
1, Preheat oven to 160C
2, In a saucepan add the rhubarb & cinnamon with 1/2 cup water. Simmer, stirring regularly until the rhubarb is broken down but don't over do it, we want to have some form to the rhubarb still.
3, Steam the beetroot until very soft, blend until smooth (can use stick blender or blender) may need a little water to aid but should have enough moisture without.
4, Stir this through the rhubarb mixture & put into a oven-proof baking dish
6, Mix the crumble topping ingredients together & spoon on top of the rhubarb & beet mix.
7, Bake in the oven until the top is golden. Depending on your oven it may darken on the top quickly so check regularly, should take about 15 mins.

Delicious with cream, yoghurt or coconut yoghurt!

Hi 👋 I’m Sophie your Box Divvy Hubster!
I’ve been enjoying packing up your orders & being a big fan of cooking it’s great to see all this fresh produce go to good homes! I’ll share ways I use my fruit & veg on this page to hopefully give you some inspiration too!

That tuft of hair you see in the carrier is my 9 week old Isaac. You’ll find him strapped to me while boxing up your orders as he likes to give me the challenge & it’s the only place he likes to sleep!

If you’re ever missing blueberries my 3 year old Elliot may have snuck them out as he’s obsessed & doesn’t understand all this fruit & veg is not for us. (Don’t worry he’ll never steal any veg as it’s “yucky”!)

You may have seen my dog Coco sat at the gate saying hi, he’s super friendly & wonders why all these people come up our driveway!

My partner Joel works from home so you may see him from time to time & we’re usually upstairs at home when you collect your orders, so if you ever feel like saying hi in person feel free to pop up!
We’ve lived in Bulli for a year now & loving the community vibe down here 🥰

With each new week, fruit and vegetables prices are getting back to some kind of ‘normal’ level – although we have to admit that we’re no longer entirely clear on what ‘the new normal’ is these days.
But Moussa’s weekly video update leaves little room for doubt: https://youtu.be/Pzb0xK4d0bY

23/08/2022

Hi I’m Sophie a current member and my partner Joel are taking over the Hub from Lizzie and Mo. A big thankyou to both for running the Hub this past year.

I’m looking forward to building a food community keen to share recipes, nutrition tips, know more about our local and Australian farmers.

I’m passionate about making healthy food choices, reducing our packaging and connecting people within our community. Food is a great way to do this. We might not be able to sit at each others dinner tables at the moment but we can fire each other with enthusiasm for cooking and sharing our storage tips.

We welcome new members to this Thursday Hub. If you’ve questions please feel free to ask me.

To join my Thursday Hub in Bulli, please use the link below:

More about How it Works.
With Box Divvy we share boxes using a smart App and offered to you when you join and this helps us, as a group, to share boxes of fruit, veg, bread, eggs, groceries between us.

Meat, Seafood, Chicken and Smallgoods offered every 4 weeks with free home delivery on a Saturday.

How does this work?
Easy.
You get an order every week unless you suspend BEFORE Order Creation (9pm Saturday). We ask you order at least fortnightly.
You get a Start Order on Sunday morning with fruit & Veg only. How much you get depends on the household size. Every order ends up different because you can take up to 3 things out.
You have a say of what goes into the Start Order by voting in the Wish List.

When I publish the Start Order you can take 3 things out.
There is then an OPT-IN section known as SPLITS (let’s Split a box). This is why no one order is the same.

For security we keep the App on the website and off the Apple Store - it connects us directly with growers and food wholesalers and the profits are channelled back into reducing the prices for members. So you save up to 40% on produce that hasn't been stored and a heap of groceries on offer.

It's a community run and owned coop with the aim to change how the food system currently is working.

Box Divvy is -
*Good for your wallet *Good for your Health *Good for the Planet
Around 40-60% from local growers seasonally (mostly greens) and Conventional/Sprayfree. See more on this at https://www.boxdivvy.com/how

We will go Australia wide as the season changes. We will not say interstate are Sprayfree as we have not visited their farms, even if they tell us that.

**Good for your wallet**
Safer than a supermarket and you'll save up to 40% on produce and groceries compared to online supermarkets. Why so inexpensive? We believe most of the profit should go back to paying our farmers fairly and to benefit our members. You get to know our growers - how cool is that!

So our Box Divvy community, is about supporting local growers, providing fresh, accessible and inexpensive fresh food to everyone – no matter where you live or your income. Grocery items some will be overseas as not commercially grown in Australia.

There are now over 7,000 families involved in Box Divvy's across Sydney, Central Coast, Blue Mountains and South Coast.

**Good for your Health** This is all available to our community through an initiative with Western Sydney Diabetes Alliance Partners Western Sydney Diabetes Building Fresh Food Communities.

Box Divvy will only offer high nutritional products rather than like supermarkets where you have access to impulse purchasing of high energy but low in nutrition options.

It's a fun and educational way to connect with your neighbours, share recipes that fit in with your lifestyle, a place to share your cooking successes (and not so as we can learn from those too), learn how to store fresh produce, and how to use up what's left in the fridge before the net delivery.

I run the Hub and am known as your Hubster: I communicate with you stories and recipes; encourage you to share your food stories, and have fun being involved in this innovative and easy way to shop.

When you register to join my Hub you will receive a Welcome email with a User Guide. I'll also be in touch with you by phone to say ‘Hi’.

Want to know more?
Here's more about how it works and how I run the Hub.

How it Works: Buy. Share. Save.
1. Everyone gets a Starting Order some 3-4 staples, amount is based on your household size, and you can take 3 items out. Yes, you can have a say each week of what goes into this. Make a 'Wish List Vote'.

2. Opt In. Then we share boxes online known as SPLITS. You choose 1 or 2 boxes to share and look at what other members have put up to share. All done on our phone, ipad or computer using the smart Box Divvy App.

The App shares it all out to those who have joined that Split. As a group we just have to get the minimum required for an item then everything over that we get. Example, we might need to get 6 cabbage then the 7th, 8th we get.

CUTOFF is at 9pm TUESDAY. This is your final order including the Splits you opted-in for which have made it over the first box as a group.

Your card is then charged overnight. Please make sure you have enough funds on your card.

Payment security: We have a daily updated SSL certificate on our website keeping any information safe plus all transactions are through Eway payment gateway.

DECLINING CARDS
This happens sometimes due to another transaction taking out your funds or needing to update your Credit Card. You do get a reminder email from us a week before your card is due to be updated.

If your card declines, you will receive an auto email saying that we will attempt to recharge the card again at midday the next day. This is the day before delivery. If this attempt declines then it will be manually processed at 5pm and you will be charged a $5 admin fee as we need to pay someone to process these. You must pay for your order the day prior to delivery.

Ordering Cycle
Ordering is over a four day cycle.
It is expected you will order weekly and at least fortnightly. You can suspend orders before Order Creation but if going away please let me know please.

**Good for the Planet**
No unnecessary packaging. I encourage you to provide me with your own stand up, name labelled, insulated shopping bags, tubs, then for the small things like beans, mushrooms etc cloth bags/net bags/ or containers name labelled, for example large rectangle yoghurt tubs or ice cream containers. Please wash them thoroughly before returning each week. Groceries - some already packed in soft plastic which we can recycle in RED bins at the shops.

Let’s Unsupermarket!

See how we work with growers here https://www.boxdivvy.com/how
Check out the website too www.boxdivvy.com

Quality Control and communication. Great flavoursome produce but be aware we don’t tell our growers what they must pack. So produce will come in different sizes and for example, it may on occasion have growing marks on it – the way nature intended.
We do not create food waste and if the produce is tasty and grown the way nature intended then we will take ‘curly’ cucumbers.
But, if you get a yucky something let me know within 24 hours of pick up with a photo please. Need the photo to show the growers. To make up we’ll either put in extras the following week or if I can, put in a credit request.

You need to let me know within 24 hours of pickup or delivery. After that time frame I can’t be held responsible for how the produce has been stored.

Love your feedback and know how happy you are with my Hub and the food. Love you to put a review on this page.

If you have an issue please contact me directly so that I can see how I can resolve it. Constructive feedback is most helpful because if you don’t let me know I can’t aim to resolve it .
Exciting stuff. So join our Hub and Unsupermarket.

Any questions you find unanswered on the website feel free to message me.

Box Divvy is an App that connects you directly with farmers and food producers, and saves you some serious dough on food. At last an alternative to supermarkets.
