Box Divvy is Community owned and run. This is a fruit veg and grocery cooperative. We purchase as a group up to 40% cheaper th

an supermarkets. It’s a Smart coop and you get more of what you want than a normal coop. Box Divvy is a food box sharing system connecting growers & food producers directly with the Food. It is community owned and run designed to cut your food bill. You join online - there is no registration fee. https://www.boxdivvy.com/ You use an App on your phone or computer or a pad to order. Working with Western Sydney Diabetes Alliance - our aim is to provide accessible, inexpensive good quality fresh food.

4 DAY ORDER CYCLE – FOR Wednesday pick up

Friday 9pm – Order creation
It’s an OPT OUT SYSTEM so if you don’t want an order for the coming week, you must suspend prior to Friday 9pm. Your “WISH LIST VOTE” and any changes you wish to make to your household size must also be done by Friday 9pm. Saturday - Starting Order Published
Login take up to 3 things out and JOIN SPLITS. Monday 9pm - CUTOFF
Orders closed. Cards charged. There are 2 automatic processing’s, if those both decline - a $5 recharge fee is applied as it pays for someone to manually reprocess. You must pay BEFORE pick-up. Wednesday - PICK UP. You must pick up day of delivery at the pick-up time or arrange with Hubster. PAYMENTS
You must pay for your order once committed to an order cycle. Once in an Order Cycle we cannot withdraw an order. It is your responsibility to suspend the correct weeks. ORDERING SYSTEM
Dead simple. You share boxes online using the App. SUSPENDING ORDERS
When you tick the date, wait, it will turn red to confirm suspension. You’re expected to order weekly or fortnightly. STARTING ORDER
There’s a Starting Order based on your weekly ‘wish list’ VOTE and you can take out up to 3 things. Every week BEFORE Order Creation do a Wish List Vote to help Hubster (person who organisers Hub) to set up Starting Order. SHARE BOXES known as SPLITS
If you wish for more, you join Splits and share boxes. You can suggest a box to share or to your Hubster. Such as saying to your group: “Who’d like to share a box of apples?”

At order cut-off you pay automatically online (Visa or Mastercard & Secure Eway Payment gateway) then boxes from growers & food wholesalers come to the Hubster’s house for packing. You pick up from their place or they may offer home delivery. FRUIT, VEG, BREAD, EGGS – Order, pay, receive this week
GROCERIES – Order, pay, receive next week due to fresh roasting of coffee and made to order. BREAD baker direct – Minimum HUB order total is $30
GROCERIES wholesaler direct – Minimum HUB order is $75. MEAT AND SEAFOOD (NEW) – Order every 4 weeks. READ THE AMOUNTS YOU ARE PURCHASING
Please check carefully if the items are single, handfuls, 500gm, 1 kg etc. Don't assume it's by one item. EXAMPLE: Cherries sold by the box, make sure you’re not putting in 5 thinking it's handfuls when it's boxes. Read the descriptions please. EXTRAS
There are ALWAYS extras as the box belongs to members so your Hubster will divvy extras when available. There is also usually a SWAP box - if you forget to customise your Starting Order, you can throw in some apples and take out some carrots that someone else did not want. You will get great value. COMMUNITY BOX
Many Hubster’s ask members if this SWAP BOX can become a COMMUNITY KINDNESS BOX given to a family in need. This is part of the Social Enterprise experience by being part of the Hub. NOT WANT AN ORDER? There are no contracts, you can suspend orders when you don’t want them. WANT EXACTLY 1 tomato 2 oranges? Then Box Divvy is not for you. This is a coop and things are in handfuls NOT exact items. You need to be flexible but you'll always get good value. We are a group of community minded people wanting to change the food system. Reduce packaging and pay our farmers fairly. By reducing our carbon footprint by 90% this means we buy in bulk as a group and then share it. We need to be a bit flexible. You will know roughly what you will get but you can’t get exact. We have a Packing Guide but the numbers will change as produce is smaller or larger. Mostly you will get extras overall. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT I SPEND? EASY. You will pay the STARTING ORDER PLUS if you join in SPLITS or ADD Groceries. At the bottom of MY ORDER you will see the MAX you will pay if all your SPLITS get over the line, any groceries you’ve ordered and the Starting Order. You can reduce the SPLITS or Groceries you joined BEFORE CUTOFF. PACKAGING
Much of the produce comes loose so please provide your Hubster with a NAME LABELLED BAG: ALSO - calico/wash nets to put handfuls in (do not expect your Hubster to provide paper bags please): Bring in your old icecream containers, for example, for the Hub to put soft stuff in. If you get an item in plastic, recycle it in your soft plastic bin. We don't interrupt the packing from the farmer. Farmers are trying to work out how to transport produce and it can’t always be plastic free - for the moment. The Sugar Cane bags are not strong, don't last and definitely not airtight. Cardboard and paper fall apart. New technology is being worked on. NOT FOR ME
If after you’ve tried it and Box Divvy is not working the way you want, then you can cancel membership. So? Join our group to make a difference. You have the power to do so. Cut your food bill significantly – Wow! The goal: to cut your food bill, without compromising on the quality, freshness and variety of food. With minimal effort, minimal packaging and food miles, and still paying farmers and suppliers a fair price for their produce.

Is it just my family or are meatballs a huge favourite in every house? 😋

We have found our favourite meatballs recipe and I think that my family would happily eat this one on a weekly basis if they could 🤣🤣🤣

What is so special about this recipe? Honestly I think it’s the quality of our Angus mince from the Chilled range and also popping the meatballs and the sauce in the oven to reduce and intensify the flavours 👌🏻

All ingredients can be bought from box divvy too which makes it so much easier. I know that the ingredients are clean and I’m supporting local small business. No need to go to the big supermarket!

Last week to grab these yummy treats!

Which is your favourite? We love the almond croissants in our house 😋

Shepherd’s croissants: long demanded, but short lived.

This is one of those products we reguarly receive emails on: can we pretty please range the Shepherd’s almond croissants? Seriously? Ok, for a limited time only (i.e. this week and next), you can gorge on these gorgeous croissants.

They come in 4 flavours (Nutella, Amond, Apple & Walnut, and Pear, Rhubarb & Pistachio. They are available as a box of 4 croissants only, and can be found under Bakery ➡️ Cakes & Croissants. Prices range from $17 to $26 per box.

BTW: you can get them now and freeze them: according to Shepherds, they freeze well in the box. After thawing, put them in a 160 C oven for a few minutes.

Have you tried the 2 Pops Macadamia Honey yet?

Here’s what our lovely member Janelle had to say about it:

Hey Tammy,
I forgot to let you know about the positive reaction to the Macadamia Honey. I didn't let the family know I had purchased this one and just put it in the pantry. My son and grandson had it on their toast, and the questions about the different taste were immediate. They absolutely loved it. It's a huge hit. Anyone thinking about buying honey, I would definitely recommend this one. 😋👌🐝🐝🐝🙂💙

This honey comes from bees used to pollinate macadamia trees in the Byron hinterland in northern NSW. It's a taste sensation of caramel, nuts and honey - but it's 100% raw, unfiltered honey sourced by 2 Pops on the Central Coast.

Come and unpack my pantry order for this week with me ☺️

Lots of staples for us this week as well as two items that were requested by the kids. Can you guess what they are? 🤣

What are your favourite pantry items?

I can’t live without that maple syrup and we have the oats daily. We are getting the diced tomatoes and tomato paste weekly it’s such a great meal base for us. There is so much variety at box divvy that you really can avoid getting your staples from the big supermarkets.

Celery with a twist!

Is nothing sacred? US authorities discover more than one ton of methamphetamine hidden under celery at an Atlanta Farmers Market. This is not the first time that farmers’ produce is used to hide illegal drugs: according to The Guardian, “six tons of methamphetamine was found hidden in a shipment of green squash in California, while in March nearly two tons of co***ne was hidden among avocados in Colombia. It is unclear what happened to the squash and avocados.”
We checked the celery bunches from Manuel Xerri – they are so big, it can hide a small car – but gave it to all-clear…

Last week we had a birthday in our house and decided to make a mocha flavored birthday cake using our Honest to Goodness organic cocoa powder and dark chocolate drops.

These honestly are two of our favourite pantry items and are used all the time to make brownies, milk shakes, smoothies, chocolate chip cookies, slices, chocolate chip pancakes. You name it! If it has chocolate in it, it will have at least one of these two ingredients in them.

And of course my two helpers had to decorate the cake with cream and a coffee bean brittle. It’s all about helping decorate the cake 🤩

If you’re a fan of baking or chocolate you need to try these two pantry items out.

Find them in pantry ➡️ other baking ingredients.

What is the perfect spice blend for a chilli con carne?

This is a favourite dish in our house and we are always trying different recipes. Yesterday we slow cooked up some brisket to make a big pot of yummy brisket chilli.

This is the base that we started our chilli off with:

2 red onions
10 cloves of garlic
2 Cinnamon sticks
Cumin
Paprika
Oregano
Bay leaves
Celtic salt
Pepper
Dried chipotle chilli rehydrated in coffee

What spices do you like to add to your chilli?

Have you tried a custard apple before?

I’m looking forward to trying one for the first time this week😋

Custard apples 🍏🤔. Have you tried one yet? 🤩

We are so excited that they have became available here! 🎉They are an amazing fruit to eat, just as it is. In Far North Queensland, when the season strikes you can find them fresh in all fruit markets. Here, let’s just say that it’s a precious time when you are able to find them. 🤩

We must admit, it’s not the most appealing fruit with it’s outer rough skin🐲. But it hides a beautiful, delicate white flesh in it’s inside. It smells and tastes slightly like vanilla, and we like to describe the taste as a creamy pear. It almost feels like a dessert when you get a good ripe one 🤤(which is when it tips blacken and it give in a little – like an avocado).

The best part? They are packed with nutrients! 🌈They are good sources of potassium, vitamin B6, magnesium and antioxydants. We are definitely getting some this week! The season is usually very short! ✨

Will you give it a try? 🙌🏼

…you make lemonade. And not the chemically flavoured sugary drink that goes for lemonade these days – think 7-Up and Sprite – but the real stuff: Eastcoast Country Style Lemonade, made with 16% lemon juice from real, Australian-grown lemons. About 8 of them in every 2L bottle.

Local exotic mushrooms from Mittagong!

Peter and Leonie Wenzel grow exotic mushrooms in a disused railway tunnel near Bowral. They are known as Little Mountain Mushrooms, as well as FungiCo, and grow Shiitake, Oyster (in several colours), Lion Mane, Wood Ear (or Black Fungi), Shimeji and others.

For now, we start with fresh Shiitake and Yellow Oyster, packed as a (loose) 150g mix. Shiitake mushrooms have a nutty flavour, and are mostly imported into Australia – Yellow oyster and Shiitake from Fungicowhich is why they typically retail for $70 a kilo. Oyster mushrooms are more common, but mainly as white and grey. We’re starting with yellows, but over the coming months we hope to be able to sample blue and pink oysters – not to mention Lion Mane, Enoki, King Oyster and Shimeji so we can replace all imported mushrooms with locally produced.

The current Shiitake/Yellow Oyster mix comes loose – no plastic – in serves of around 150g. The minimum Hub order is 5 serves (750g). They sell for around $39 a kilo.

Using our box divvy green apples, rhubarb, lemon along with our Honest to Goodness oats, almonds and flour. This dish is easy to whip up in the last crazy moments of dinner prep so that it’s coming out of the oven as we finish our meal 👌🏻

⭐️⭐️New: Popcorn kernels⭐️⭐️

Popcorn – without the loads of salt/butter/caramel you get served in the cinema – is a remarkably healthy snack food.
Did you know it contains 14.5g of dietary fibre (per 100g of popcorn)? That’s twice as much as the fibre content of wholemeal or multigrain bread.
In addition, popcorn contains Vitamin B1 (Thiamin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Zinc.

Of all snack foods, you can't do much better than popcorn.

Plus, it's cheap: $2.45 for a 500g bag of kernels
You’ll find it in Pantry ➡️ Snacks & Entertainment ➡️ Popcorn.

Come and make tonight’s dinner with me part 2

Your stew is ready to go. Now all we need is some pasta. Did you know that there is a huge selection of pasta to choose from in our online pantry? We have 21 choices online. Tonight we used the Balducci Penne which is only $1.80.

1. Follow the cooking instructions for your pasta and strain.
2. Pop the pasta back in the saucepan that is off the heat.
3. Add a few tablespoons of butter (only Norco of course), a tablespoon of olive oil and stir.
4. Add 1/2 cup of shallots chopped up and a good grating of pecorino cheese and stir.

Now you have the most perfect accompaniment to the stew. Add a wallop of sour cream on top and a sprinkle of parsley if you have some. 👌🏻

Another Box Divvy dinner 🤩 (every item can be purchased from us except the wine)
