Just a heads-up for the long weekend—here’s what’s happening at Naughty Dog School:

❌ No Puppy Play Dates on Saturday, 27th January
❌ No Puppy Preschool, Advanced Puppy, or Naughty Dog Classes on Sunday, 28th January
❌ No Kinder Puppy Class and No Daycare on Monday, 29th January

🏡 Boarding drop-off & pick-up hours for the weekend (Sat-Mon) will be:
🕘 9:00 - 10:00 AM
🕟 4:30 - 5:30 PM

I too worked in the dog security industry and have decades of practical, hands on, paid employment as a dog handler and:or trainer and/or K9 Unit Manager. I have the experience to understand how to train, manage and rehabilitate all categories and ages of dogs.
It is widely known in the industry that prong collars are used by “trainers” (anyone can be a “trainer”no qualifications needed) to get quick results by causing pain and fear.
It is much harder to work out why the dog is a handful and rectify the problem using intelligence, knowledge, experience and compassion. Bullying and fear based training is not the long term answer for many dogs and not at all for most.

Occasionally someone pops along here with the idea that I have no practical experience with dogs, couldn't handle a working dog and that's why I don't understand why 'tools' are needed for some dog breeds.

I was in a bite suit and operationally searching for live explosives with dogs decades ago. Working breeds are easier to train with positive reinforcement because they are literally born to work. Dogs don't need prong collars - poor trainers do - because they haven't learned or skilled up enough.

And if you can't teach a companion breed to volunteer something, by using a marker, you have a long way to go with your training. I would say you're not a dog trainer, because that's brain work. A prong collar is not brain work.

If you think you need to expose an innocent dog to a prong collar you don't. You need to learn more.

It really is as simple as that.

And here endeth the lesson.

All dogs deserve safety.

It's a welfare right.

We proudly continue to educate ourselves by maintaining our qualifications, attending conferences, upskilling with regular courses and staying in touch with industry professionals.

We specialise in behavioural training, not just obedience training! Not only do we help owners with existing problems, but we set puppies and dogs up for the right start. We provide a variety of services for ALL types off dogs – ‘Good’ or ‘Bad’ (And we don’t believe any dog truly is ‘Naughty’, it’s just a tongue in cheek name!)
