Meet Teddy the groodle. At 16 weeks he’s full of fun and mischief but so cute! I loved working with him and his family this afternoon to help guide them in how they can best support Teddy during this sometimes difficult phase. He learnt “gentle” when taking treats off me in that hour so I just know he will be a quick learner!

Meet Miss Dolly the Boston Terrier. I loved working with Dolly and her family today. Boston terriers are a great family dog that are happy and lively. They can be strong willed and sometimes Dolly doesn’t listen, but today her family learnt lots of strategies to kindly teach Dolly that she has to do what they say so she can be safe.

Jett the cavalier is 9 months old and a cutie! His owners have already done such a great job with him and all they needed was to structure his training so everyone was using the same language consistently along with the introduction of a high value treat. Jett is working towards walking on a loose lead without pulling using a humane training collar. Today’s session was extremely successful and I am confident Jett will be a quick learner.

Meet gorgeous Cleo! Cleo was adopted as an older girl by a wonderful family. But as she’s had a lot of changes in her life, suffers from separation anxiety. This is completely normal and with some strategies put in place to help Cleo get used to being on her own, I’m sure she will improve.

Remember gorgeous Snowy? His owner has spent the last week working hard to support Snowy in reducing his reactive behaviour. I brought my groodle Ned to further support Snowy. Snowy walked beautifully beside Ned, shared treats and welcomed Ned into his home! Such a successful training session and a huge credit to his owner Jen.

I met gorgeous Snowy and his lovely owner today. Snowy is a five year old Maltese x Shih Tzu and is quite the clever boy. But unfortunately when he was young he was bowled over by a big dog on a couple of occasions. That creates trauma in a dog, and just like us can make them reactive. Today’s session was all about teaching Snowy to focus on his owner when walking past other dogs and remain calm. For his next session in a week I’ll bring Ned my dog along to teach Snowy how to socialise with in a safe space.

I have been coming to since I was 15! I got a beautiful beagle called Ben and he was a handful. I have been coming back with all of my dogs since then. As a trainer it is vital that your dog learns obedience in a group setting with all the distractions, noises and other dogs. My boy Ned achieved level 2 and I am so proud. Start early with their puppy prep class! Its starts soon !

I worked with this lovely family and their gorgeous boy Bilbo again. The focus of today’s session was to visit a public place to see how Bilbo could support the little boy in regulating his emotions and behaviour. And it was a success! There were no meltdowns, just calm and controlled behaviour. At only 6 months of age, Bilbo’s owner has worked rigorously with him in ensuring he will be the best assistance/therapy dog.

What a gorgeous morning sky ! Billy certainly loved it. Our morning beach walks are so good for my dogs and our doggy visitors. They get to run, sniff, play , swim and socialise with other lovely dogs. This is vital for a dogs emotional and social development , just like we need social connection to support our wellbeing. So take your dog to an amazing dog friendly beach like fairy meadow and enjoy skies like this.

Start training your puppy as soon as you bring it home ! Mystery’s mum has done that and now knows everything she needs when training her puppy over the next few months. Don’t wait until your pup is 6 months old and bad habits are formed.

It’s so important to start getting your pup groomed as soon as they are 12 weeks. It can be an overwhelming experience for them - dryers, clippers, scissors, so their first groom should be a positive experience. A little tidy up, their nails, feet and face trimmed. Regular combing with a greyhound comb is a must. Your dog will need regular grooming (every 6-8 weeks ) so the sooner you get it used to it the better.
