🏆And like that it’s OVER! Tiarne is getting ready to board her plane back to Australia🇦🇺

The day started at 3:30am, off to petsiconacademy to bath and prepare the teams dogs, onto the event that was held in the MIDDLE of a busy shopping complex, competing all day, dinner and home by 10pm!

It’s always an amazing experience to meet people as passionate about dogs and grooming as yourself, to watch other people work and see other styles of grooming from around the globe

The Dogs Australia National Grooming Team brought home 2nd place at their first ever international grooming competition! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Thank you to Plush Puppy Australia and DGS Imports for always ensuring Tiarne has all her favourite grooming tools and products on hand.

And thank you to little ‘Amanda’ the toy poodle for being such a beautiful little dog to work on 💜

Tiarne will be competing in August in the USA, then in Belgium in September for Groom Team Australia and again in Dec for Dogs Australia National Grooming Team. 🏆

Today’s game day! The team was up at 3:30am to go bath their competition dogs! This is not an individual event but a team event where 4 groomers compete in pure breed classes, each team member is scored individually, the 4 groomers scores are then added together and divided by 4 to get the team average!

We are proud to pull on the green and gold jersey to represent our country and thousands of groomers in Australia competing at the 2024 FCI Korea Grooming World Championship in South Korea this year.

Unfortunately, we do not have funding from the Australian Sports Commission, our Team members will have to share responsibility for all associated travel costs through fundraising and donations

🏆About two weeks ago Tiarne headed to QLD for the Brisbane Pet Show Grooming Competition where she won her second BEST IN SHOW at a grooming comp for the year🏆 competing against some of Australia’s best groomers is never an easy task and as usual her Poodle groom proved flawless. This groom style, known as the ‘Continental trim’ takes months of maintenance and preparation to help create that flawless finish.

This past weekend Tiarne and Kim travelled to Brisbane where Tiarne presented a poodle grooming seminar and hands on workshop for The Poodle Club Of QLD! This was a fundraising event for the club with Tiarne donating her time and knowledge to the club and participants 💜 a great turn out of 24 in the morning and a maximum capacity of 15 for the hands on work shop in the arvo 🏆 thank you to DGS Imports & Plush Puppy Australia for always supporting groomers and pet owners alike

Ever wondered about our academy? Elite Dog Grooming Academy is situated inside Perky Pooches and has students attend from across the country. Offering nationally recognised certification as well as private tuition and short courses, our students learn on real dogs that are pre approved by their owners and Tiarne. From time to time we may contact you to ask if you would like your dog to be a student dog for the day, where they can receive their usual groom, completed by our students with guidance and assistance where needed. 💜

Our Story

Perky Pooches was established in 2013 and specialises in providing the complete grooming experience for your pooch. Perky Pooches is owned and operated by Mulit BEST IN SHOW winning groomer and handler Tiarne Perkiss.

Winner of Runner Up Best New Business in the Illawarra for 2015 at the IWIB awards we pride ourselves on producing top quality work whilst placing the utmost importance on your dogs wellbeing.

We work by appointment only. To assure that you are not disappointed, it is best to call at least 2-3 weeks in advanced. If you keep your pet on a regular schedule we can easily set up a reoccurring appointment for you and send you a reminder message or call if you desire.

We continue to further our education in the industry by attending grooming seminars with international speakers such as the 2013 Aust groom seminar and the 2013 Purina GroomQuest seminar. Competitions are another way we continue our education, through competition we receive constructive criticism from both peers and international judges.
