Out and about with Kandy ๐ฌ๐ญ
Kandy's desensitising session! She nailed it. ๐ค ๐
Trooper in the bush ๐๐ค ๐
Lazy old man Troop walking through the bush today. Lots of slippery mud from the much needed down pour we go over the last week!
Riding out with Cheif, Rip and Trooper.
Rip's wonderful owner brought out her old boy for a ride. We swapped horses halfway through!
I am very excited to see Kym and Rip blossom!
See you soon Rip!
Rip is heading home tomorrow! Managed to get a break in the rain to fit in another ride ๐๐ค

Today I gave him a test. No ground work. No prep. Just saddle up and go!
Ground work is super important for these youngesters and horses starting out. It really shows you what mood they are in and if there is any issues you need to sort out on the ground first ๐
Apart from some horse eating planter boxes, Rip was just super!
It is super important to set your horse up for success. Let them stop and look at something scary. Feel their body language. If in doubt tackle it on the ground first and then tackle it under saddle. Or better yet have a more experienced horse show them that it isn't going to kill them!
Rip didn't like the look of super white planter boxes with bright coloured plants in it swishing around in the wind. He stopped, looked and I felt his body wanting to retreat! Instead of pushing him where we could get into a lot of strife, I changed course. We rode right around the scary things and passed them in the opposite direction. Funny enough he didn't even look at them!
Set them up for success! Read their body language and have something up your sleeve for every scenario. That is our job as riders!
Rip on the job yesterday. Bringing the cows up to the yards. What a top boy. Handled himself so well under pressure! ๐๐ฎ๐ค
Rip's adventure today!
We had company today which was nice. But what was even better is that RIP was happy to lead the way and leave his mates ๐๐ค ๐
Good boy!
