Sarah and Jayney are out the door,
Off to Japan for fun galore!
Skiing the slopes, ramen in hand,
Living it up in a wintery land.

But never fear, we’re still here,
Running the clinic—no need to steer!

🌀 Caring for Your Pet During Cyclone Alfred 🌀

As Cyclone Alfred approaches, it’s important to keep in mind that these extreme weather events can be distressing for our pets.

Many pets are sensitive to sounds of thunder, heavy rain, and strong winds, and may show signs of stress like trembling, panting, or hiding.

With the cyclone coming, noise levels are likely to rise, so it’s a good idea to take steps to help your pets feel more secure.

Tips for Calming Your Pet

🏡 Create a Safe Space - Set up a quiet, cozy area where your pet can feel secure.
🔈 Use White Noise - Soft music or white noise can help drown out the loud sounds.
🧸 Comfort Items - Offer familiar toys, blankets, or something with your scent.
❤️‍🩹 Calming Products - Consider pheromone diffusers, calming sprays, or anxiety vests.
💊 Medications - If needed, consult your vet about medications to help with anxiety.

🌟 Sweet Maple’s Big Day 🌟

A friendly reminder to consider pet insurance for your furry family members! 🐾

This sweet and playful pup injured herself while zooming around with her sister, suddenly unable to put weight on her back leg. Concerned, her family got her promptly to the clinic, where x-rays revealed a broken Tibial Crest (a complex fracture).

Dr. Sarah immediately stepped in to perform surgery, and our incredible nurses provided exceptional care to ensure Maple’s speedy recovery.

We were so relieved to hear Maple’s family had signed up for Trupanion insurance, allowing them to focus on her recovery without having to worry about the financial impact of her injury.

We’re thrilled to report that Maple is back to her usual self and zooming around with her sister again! 💕

Age and pain are a reality for many of our beloved pets, including two of our own dogs, Maverick and Woofy. Maverick who requires ongoing care for age-related health conditions and Woofy who came to us with life-changing injuries and requires ongoing care.

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Ayrial’s medial expertise and our amazing nurses, who are always thinking outside of the box and engaging us in conversation about aging, pain and palliative care.

We have recently added acupuncture to Mav’s and Woofy’s care. We were so impressed by Dr. Louise’s treatments and delighted that she has agreed to do treatments here at the clinic for our patients.

We are beyond proud of Zeus, who used to be too terrified to even get through the door at the vet and when he did….. he wasn’t quite his best self 🫣

It’s been a journey of building trust, reinforcing positive experiences, and working with him in ways that allow him to succeed - please refer to the creative path we used to get his weight 😂

💜 Please note that we will respond to text messages and voicemails on the next business day we are open. However, we may not be available all day therefore responses may take some time 💜

🌟 During the festive season, our team will be briefly scanning emails daily. While we won’t be able to respond to general enquiries or routine requests, we will prioritise and reply to any requests for a goodbye visit as soon as they are seen. 🌟

🐾 A Little TLC for Dr. Sarah! 🐾

Our lovely Dr. Sarah will be out of action for a short time as she undergoes some surgery of her own tomorrow 🩺✨ Don’t worry; we won’t be able to keep away for too long, she will be bored and fighting to get back as soon as she is able, however she will need to take it easy for the rest of the year.

Thankfully, our beautiful Dr. Ayrial is here, ready and excited to step in and ensure your family continues to receive all the love and care they deserve. 💕🐕🐈 For those of you who have already met Dr Ayrial you know exactly what we are talking about, for those who haven’t, you’re in for a treat 🤩👩‍⚕️

It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to be surrounded by such kind, understanding, and supportive families. Your flexibility means the world to us—and to Dr. Sarah. Maverick, pictured, is looking forward to snuggle time at home!

Unfortunately, there is a significant outbreak of canine parvovirus affecting the South East Queensland region.

Canine parvovirus is extremely contagious and deadly if left untreated, please ensure your dog is up to date with their vaccinations and keep your puppy away from public areas!

Symptoms of parvovirus include:

⚠️ Vomiting and diarrhoea
⚠️ Lethargy and weakness
⚠️ Loss of appetite
⚠️ Fever

If your dog is displaying any of these symptoms isolate them immediately and contact us, or if after hours the emergency clinic!

Now that we have your attention with a photo of Bailey (🥹) we would like to remind all of our beautiful clients that their pets can over heat easily!

Tips to keep your furry family members cool this heat wave:

💧Provide plenty of fresh, cool water with ice blocks
🪭Keep indoors in the air conditioning
🏡Move outdoor bedding and water bowls to a shaded place
🌊Supervised water swims
🧊Frozen licky mats & treats
🚙Never leave your pet in the car

We advise only walking your pets very early or very late and always testing the heat of the concrete first with the back of your hand 🤚

If you are concerned your pet has over heated please seek emergency care immediately 💥
