Large, small and everything in between ๐Ÿ™Œ Wooroolin Veterinary Services opened in August 2010 by Steve Kelly.

Steve was a University of Queensland graduate and has worked in and owned various practices including time as a "flying vet" in the Kimberleys and Northern Territory, partnership in Redland Bay Vet Surgery and owned Esk Vet Surgery outright. Steve and his wife Wendy, moved to the South Burnett in 2004 and developed a Large Animal Veterinary Service based from his farm. This rapidly developed into

a full time business. In 2010, a shop came available on the highway at Wooroolin and it was decided to open a practice at the premises and return to some small animal work as well as continuing on with the large animal business already established. At that stage, Wendy became directly involved with the business by becoming the surgery nurse/receptionist/book keeper. Our business has been developed along the lines of the old style traditional rural veterinary practices where we have tended to keep things simple. We may not have the absolutely latest in equipment but have the infrastructure to handle 99% of cases with the option of referral to specialist practices for the remaining 1%. By doing this, we are able to keep our overheads to a reasonable level which also equates to being able to keep our fees at a reasonable level for our clients. Our small animal services include vaccinations, microchipping, x-raying, desexing, orthopaedic surgeries etc. Large animal services include ultrasound pregnancy testing and artifial insemenation in mares, semen collection and evaluation in bulls, various equine surgeries including rig castrations, herniae surgeries, check ligament desmotomy etc. An area of focus in the last 10 years has been equine dentistry with the use of a power float and mobile equine crush. An emergency after hours service is also supplied by ringing the surgery number ( 4164 2010 ).

The Team at Wooroolin Vet Services would like to introduce Dr Victoria Almond [BVSC (Hons)] who has joined our team as a recent graduate Veterinarian from the University of Queensland.
Tori as she prefers is local to the South Burnett and was keen to stay in the area. We hope to further encourage her development and skills with further training and support from our current team and further afield.
Dr Tori and our vet Nurse Bonnie Brunner can be seen here watching over a young c**t that they had assisted with gelding.

๐ŸคฉCelebrating our Vet Nurses๐Ÿคฉ

It's no surprise our very own Senior Vet Nurse Hannah Moyle was offered a Scholarship earlier this year to participate in the Emerging Leaders Pilot. The scholarship is organized by the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia and sponsored by Royal Canin and The Lincoln Institute of Veterinary Business.
Hannah continues to spend weekends studying and furthering her Veterinary knowledge. Recently completing the Scholarship.
Well Done, Hannah! ๐Ÿ‘

We are proud of Hannah and her achievements.

All of our Vet Nurses are currently studying and working on their Vet Nursing Skills, and we feel like this is definitely worth celebrating! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Everyday Teething Problems.

Here are some photos of recent Equine and Canine patients that had to have some teeth removed.
It's a great idea to get your pets mouth and teeth checked - particularly horses.
Things to keep an eye out for are weight loss, poor body condition, smelly breath, head tossing/bit resistance when ridden, dropping feed.
If in doubt get them checked out.
Wooroolin Vet Services are able to assist with all your animals dental requirements.

**Special Thanks to our Vet Nurse Bonnie for helping Dr Leigh recover one of our Equine patients from general anesthetic. He had a smooth and safe wake up. **
