July Bookings

Hey lovely humans!
I’m currently taking appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and every second Saturday, with set grooming times throughout the day. As a one-on-one, low-stress grooming salon, spots are limited and do tend to fill quickly—so please get in early to secure your preferred time.
----------
Please note:
I specialise in full grooming services for regular clients, and these bookings are my priority.

If you’re after a quick service (like a nail trim or tidy-up that isn’t a full groom), these need to be booked at the end of the day, when time allows, after my regular grooms are complete.
I’m currently taking on new clients with small to medium-sized dogs under 10kg. I will do my best to accommodate anxious or reactive pups, but my priority is safety for both your dog and myself. If a groom becomes unsafe to continue, I may need to stop the session—and in this case, the grooming fee will still apply to cover my time.
———-
If you have two dogs, please reach out before booking to check if I can accommodate both in the same session. My time slots are structured for individual dogs, so double bookings will depend on available time and the size/coat condition of your pups.
•Availability is updated manually and may change at any time due to real-time bookings.
•Even if a spot is listed, it may no longer be available—so please message me quickly with your preferred time to secure it. Thanks for your understanding!

⚠️ Please note: This is an educational post only, not directed at anyone in particular.

Alright puppy parents, let’s have a real talk moment 🐾

I know that fluffy little bundle you brought home is stealing hearts left, right and centre, but if you wait until they’re 12 months old to introduce them to grooming, it’s not doing them any favours. In fact… it can be traumatising 😞

Picture this: a pup who’s never been groomed, arriving pelted, matted to the skin, sore, scared, and suddenly expected to be okay with clippers, dryers, nail trims, strange smells and new sounds… it’s a lot. And it’s not their fault, it’s the lack of exposure.

This is how behavioural issues around grooming begin. This is how dogs get labelled “too hard” and bounce between groomers. And sadly, some end up needing vet sedation just to be clipped 😔💔

Please don’t wait. Once your pup has had their second vaccination, it’s go-time book that intro groom! Even if it’s just a gentle face tidy, paw touch, warm blow dry and cuddles. It’s about routine, trust and confidence-building from the start.

You wouldn’t wait until a kid is 10 to teach them how to wash their hair, right? Same goes for dogs. Early exposure equals long-term grooming success 🐶✂️

And for the love of all things furry, ignore anyone who says “don’t groom them until they’re one”… That advice causes more trauma than it prevents.

Let’s raise confident, calm dogs who actually enjoy their pamper time 💕 Book them in early, and keep them on a schedule. Your future groomer (and your pup!) will thank you.

I would love to try this on a clients dog hehe 😝

Updated: 22/05/2025 Ollie is still feeling under the weather. Getting back to clients who missed out last week now with updated appointments available for the rest of this month! Again thanks everyone for the understanding ❤️‍🩹

Important Update from Somerset Dog Grooming

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share a quick update — my son Oliver is currently unwell with COVID and another viral infection, so we’re needing to cancel all grooming appointments for the rest of this week and possibly into next week.

If you’ve called or messaged and haven’t heard back, please know I’m not ignoring you — I’m just focusing on helping Ollie rest and recover. I truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

I’ll be in touch with everyone as soon as I can to reschedule appointments.
Thank you so much for your kindness and continued support.

Warmly,
Teresa

It looks cute and funny but it kills our backs. It’s super important to train dogs to be confident in all types of conditions and environments 🙂

Hoppy Easter from Ollie and I, @ Somerset Dog Grooming!

Wishing all our beautiful clients and their humans a weekend filled with cuddles, adventures, and tail wags. May your Easter be as sweet as this bunny-eared beauty!

Friendly Easter Tip:
As tempting as those chocolates are, make sure all Easter treats are kept well out of reach of your pups. Chocolate is toxic to dogs and can make them seriously unwell — sometimes requiring urgent veterinary care. Keep your furbabies safe by keeping the choccies high!

Stay safe, stay playful, and have a paw-some Easter weekend!

PS we are closed until Tuesday!

Somerset Dog Grooming

I started dog grooming many years ago in Melbourne because my dream job was to become a Vet Nurse. However, on my journey towards this goal I slipped into dog grooming and fell in love with the ability to help owners groom their dogs. Just as with vet nursing you are able to help clients keep their pets healthy and happy.

Dog grooming isn’t just about clipping fur. It’s about having a keen sense in animal anatomy and being able to help identify ailments that can be discovered through regular grooms. I am humbled and honoured to groom my clients pets because I have had a long lifetime love for canines and felines (well all fuzzy animals in general). I’ve grown up around animals all my life and have had many experiences with animal first aid, pregnancy, birth and typical issues such as fleas and skin allergies. I have followed this path because it is very rewarding to help others whilst being creative with groom styles.
