We have moved past the halfway point of winter and it is a good time to reevaluate your pet’s health. Here are some simple tips to maintain their wellbeing during these winter months:
1. Warmth - Make sure they have a warm and dry place to rest, consider adding extra bedding to keep that heat in
2. Diet - During the winter months, the body will use extra energy in an effort to keep warm. Adding some high energy fats such as coconut oil into their diet can be a great way into maintain body weight. All of elixirs are formulated using coconut oil for effective absorption and great tasting
3. Protect skin - Dry winter air can cause the skin to dry out and crack, our rose balm is a gentle way to keep skin soft and moist
4. Exercise - I know it can be hard to get outside and active during these colder months but short outdoor walks are great for their (and our) health. Indoor activities and toys are also great for keeping them active both in mind and body.
5. Monitor health - Colder weather can exacerbate conditions such as sore or stiff joints as well as cold symptoms such as coughing and sneezing. Likely here at The Animal Herbalist we have products to aid in joint health and respiratory support
6. Grooming - Many animals will increase their coat density and length in the winter months as a means to keep warm, regular brushing can help distribute the natural oils in their coat - increasing strength and avoid matting. Apply our Coat Spray can give their coat extra support and shine #winterpetcare

🌟 Unlocking the Immune System Magic! 🦠
Ever wondered how your (and your pets') body fights off invaders? Meet the superheroes - White Blood Cells! 🦸♂️🦸♀️ Let's break it down:
🔍 Detection Heroes: White Blood Cells have a special radar for trouble - they detect invaders like bacteria or viruses in your body.
🤜 Engulf & Neutralize: White Blood Cells surround and engulf invaders through a process called phagocytosis. They trap the baddies in a bubble (phagosome) and unleash powerful enzymes to neutralize the threat.
🧹 Clean-Up Crew: Once the enemy is destroyed, they are also the clean-up crew, disposing of the defeated invaders and leaving the body safe and sound.
🚀 Power-Ups: By introducing herbs and supplements into the diet that are designed to support your immune system enables them to act faster and with more accuracy 💪
Spread the knowledge! Share to empower your friends with the immune system's secret weapon: White Blood Cells and Phagocytosis! 🌐🩸 #ImmuneSystem #PhagocytosisMagic
Going away for a couple days so I wanted to get a bunch of herbs and plants ready so they are dried when I get back. Harvesting mint, nettle, raspberry leaves, rose and some seeds from the veggie garden #slowliving #herbalists #taurusinnaturalhabitat
Who doesn't adore watching their fur babies dash around with endless energy? 🐶✨ But let's talk about a silent hero in our pets' daily adventures – their joints. Ever noticed them slowing down or dealing with achy joints? It could be inflammation quietly making its presence known.
Inflammation is like a ninja, often sneaking up without us noticing – characterized by redness, swelling, heat, pain, and a touch of "I just don't feel like playing today" from your furry friend. It's the body's way of saying, "Hold up, something's not right here!".
Just like us, the more they use those joints, the more pampering and attention they deserve. Whether it's a noticeable scrape or those sneaky internal twinges from all the fetching and playing, inflammation is just part of our pet's life.
🌟 Introducing the Joint and Immune Elixir! 🌟
This high-potency elixir is not just a remedy; it's prevention in a bottle. It's your pet's shield against the silent battles happening within. Packed with goodness to soothe those joints and support the immune system. Turmeric might just be their new best friend. It's said to assist in tackling exercise-induced inflammation and muscle soreness, giving the body the boost it needs for a speedy recovery and enhanced performance (Hewlings & Kalman, 2017).
So, let's keep those tails wagging and those paws dancing with the Joint and Immune Elixir. Because a happy pet is a healthy pet!

First Essential Oil Extraction ~ Mint 🍃 A happy mishap caused this beautiful gold colour. I don’t use essential oils in any of my animal products as they are quite potent and can be harmful if incorrectly dosed. They are formed from steam distillations in which I use the hydrosol. What a stunning by-product 🌼 #naturalmedicine #natureheals
Unfortunately Raven had a false pregnancy so we are going to wait until winter for another litter. Thinking about getting her a boyfriend and Storm a friend but in the meantime reminisce about her first adorable litter #herbalbunnies #rabbitsofig #babyrabbits
🐰 Rabbit owners, worry not if you spot strange worms in your bun’s poo! Pinworms are a nonpathogenic intestinal worm living in the cecum. Our own bunny recently faced a mild pinworm infection—no alarming weight loss or lethargy, just some visible worms, a bit of a peculiar odor, and slightly softer droppings.
👉 How did we tackle it? We opted for treatment using Diatomaceous Earth. A natural substance that works its magic by dehydrating the worms, helping to limit the spread, especially to our younger, more vulnerable baby buns. Also, keeping a deep clean of her enclosure
Don’t stress too much about completely wiping out the worm population as they are commensal in their gut microflora. Sometimes, it’s more about managing and preventing than going all-out warfare.
But remember, every bunny is unique, so feel free to send a DM for personalized animal advice. 🐇💕 #RabbitCare #herbalrabbit #naturalanimalcare #holisticpetcare #naturalanimalhealthcare #theanimalherbalist
When the moon is in its third quarter it is a great time to harvest and prune. The raspberry bush was looking a little wild so it was nice to spend the time in the sun and collecting these healing herbs. It was also prime time for sun plants. Starting my journey working with moon cycles and planting and guided by @magic_of_i planner 🍃✨
