Travelling with your pet this Christmas period?

Paralysis ticks are prevalent along the east coast of Australia. These ticks cause a paralysis which can lead to death.

Due to the weather conditions this year there has been an increase in the number of cases of tick paralysis treated by vets this year. As a result there is now a nationwide shortage of the life saving tick antiserum.

Hence, it is more important than ever to ensure your pet is covered by a tick preventative if you are travelling with your pets to the beach/coastal areas these holidays.

We currently have tick prevention products in stock, and these are available for purchase over the counter Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:30pm.

When registering your dog or cat with Murrindindi Shire Council for the first time you are required to provide your pets microchip number.

If you are unsure if your pet has a microchip or if you don’t know their microchip number we can assist by scanning your pet to check for a microchip and can retrieve their microchip number.

Our veterinarians are authorised to implant microchips. If your dog or cat requires a microchip simply phone us on 5797 2333 to arrange a time 😊

Do you own a dog or a cat? If your pet is registered, you will have received your pet’s registration renewal notices for 2022-2023 earlier this year, with a due date of 10 April. Thanks to everyone who paid the renewal on time! If you didn’t pay the renewal by the due date you should have received a reminder notice in the last few weeks. Please pay the renewal as soon as possible. Under the Domestic Animal Act 1994, it is a legal requirement for all cats and dogs over the age of three months to be registered with Council. If you are found to have an unregistered dog or cat, you could be liable for an on-the-spot fine of $363. These requirements help keep our beloved pets safe. If you have a dog or cat and they are not yet registered, you can download an animal registration form from our website at https://bit.ly/3bbrtxb or give us a call on 5772 0333.

🛠 IMPORTANT UPDATE 🛠

Next week (6-12th June) we will be operating at a reduced capacity as the clinic is undergoing renovations.

During this time we will still be available for emergencies and large animal/farm visits. If you require urgent veterinary care or medication, please phone the clinic on 5797 2333.

Any non-urgent matters will be postponed until the following week when the clinic will be operating again at normal capacity.

COVID UPDATE: We are pleased to advise that all staff have returned negative results for their covid tests. We will be open as normal from tomorrow (Wednesday). We request your patience as we catch up during this busy time of the year. Thank you for your concern.

Dear Valued Clients,
We have been informed today that 2 clients from the same family who visited our practice on Friday 15th October have subsequently tested positive for Covid 19. In line with advice from the Victorian Government our clinic is currently closed. All staff members have been tested and are isolating whilst awaiting results.

The contact with these cases occurred at a time when there were no other clients in the clinic. The premises has been cleaned and at this stage there is no advice for other clients who have attended our clinic between Friday and Monday to be tested.

We are continuing to notify all existing bookings to reschedule appointments as required, so there is no need to phone us. We are hoping to resume operating on Wednesday 20th October - but we will provide an update as soon as we receive notification.

For any emergencies, please call the normal clinic number 5797 2333 for directions.

CAN I TAKE MY ANIMAL TO THE VET DURING LOCKDOWN?

Yes, you can take an animal to the vet. ☑️

One of the 'care or compassionate reasons' for being able to leave the home is if you have a pet and need to meet obligations to sustain the life and wellbeing of that pet (for instance, by attending a vet). 🐶

You must wear a face mask, unless an exception applies. Keep at least 1.5 metres between yourself and others. 😷

If you are unwell, or are in quarantine or isolation, contact your veterinary practitioner by phone for advice on what to do to ensure your animal gets the care it needs. You must not leave home if you are unwell, or in quarantine or isolation, unless for a permitted purpose. 🙅🏻
