PARIS OLYMPICS EVENTING TEAM

Congratulations to the selected team and in particular Shane, however we are super duper proud of our friend Shenae and Bentley who are the travelling Reserve team member for Paris.

Before her move to NSW Shenae used to regularly stay here with Sonja Johnson at Serenity Park Equestrisn ahead of the Mi3DE to rest, train and prep Bentley.

Shenae we will be watching and cheering for the Aussie team. We know how proud Shenae’s beautiful parents Leanne and Mark are for Shenae’s outstanding achievements at such a young age.

So proud of 3 of these amazing female equestrians who are personal friends and have each stayed at Serenity Park Equestrian to rest and prep their horses ahead of the Mi3DE.

Sonja Johnson (Olympic Medalist); Shenae Lowings (long list for Paris Olympics) and Ruby Rae (WA Junior Rider) who are each sitting in first place in their respective classes after the dressage phase of their 3 day campaign with cross country tomorrow.

So proud of you all. Girl’s Rule!

She’s a legend in the equestrian world and we know she’s a legend with a heart of gold.
Yesterday was an incredibly busy day of activities here with our NDIS clients and Sonja and her crew prepping their horses through ridden exercise on the arenas followed by a lovely warm bath and attention to detail by groom extraordinaire Bec; restocking the truck with hay feed and mucking out paddocks and day yards; cooking hot breakfasts and enduring an ongoing supply of hot chocolate or tea and coffee……
In all of this focussed and busy activity Sonja took timeout to give the most amazing experience to Ammie, one of our long time NDIS clients, with a one to one ridden coaching session. Ammie said it was one of the best days of her life and even dear ZedZed was listening as Sonja spoke to Ammie.
Both Sonja and Bec took one of our riding students under their wing for the day giving them valuable insights, encouragement and a few hands-on learning opportunities about prepping horses.
Amidst all this Sonja managed to make time for a spa treatment inside and a short nap. BooBoo the turkey gave Sonja’s dog Susie a new experience of what it feels like to be the one rounded up and and chased and even the back of the truck did not provide relief as BooBoo and her babies marched up the ramp into the truck to hunt Susie out. Once there they quite enjoyed the space and we had to ensure they were absolutely out of the truck before Sonja loaded horses to leave for Werribee.

Sonja and Bec Hackett arrived safely late yesterday afternoon with Timmy and Sam who travelled really well on their trip across the Nullarbor.

Fresh paddocks of autumn green grass awaited them with our beautiful home grown equine hay.

Timmy was again intrigued by little Piccles the mini pony and Sammy wasn’t sure what to make of the peacocks and turkeys.

Sonja’s dog Susie was delighted to be out of the truck until BooBoo the turkey spotted her and Susie hot tailed it back into the truck to watch from afar till the coast was clear.

Such a delight to have Sonja back. My homemade pasta and Tiramisu cake was on the menu for dinner with a few good glasses of G&T and red wine to chill after such a long journey.

We are so looking forward to welcoming our close friend, coach, Olympic silver medalist and legend Sonja Johnson back at Serenity Park for a short stay over as she prepares for next week’s Mi3DE at the National Equestrian Centre in Werribee.

We are back from our amazing adventures in Europe. Very jet lagged but so grateful to staff and friends who looked after Serenity Park in our absence.
I will do a post later about our wonderful journey…….

In the meantime, enjoy these pics of the stunning Aurora Australis that so many of you would have seen on Saturday night. What a lovely welcome home. (And incredibly, just last month we visited the Arctic Circle and were blessed to see one of the strongest and longest Aurora Borealis displays in recent years. Right there in the Arctic Circle in a remote forest on the shore of a frozen lake. Pictures and video to come in a later post).
