Wout, co-founder of krab, has two adorable kittens, Boris and Pippa. He wanted to find a pleasant hangout for them to fully enjoy their city home . Unfortunately he couldn’t find anything to please his cats without disturbing his charming interior. Together they spent months creating 3 modules that would fit the cats' needs as well as the owners'. The modules can easily be absorbed in your home to fit in the interior and are designed to please owner and cat.

Krab is a Dierbaar brand. Redefining popular contemporary products to more sustainable and functional pieces of furniture without ignoring the aesthetics side of a product is our goal.

For us, it feels like a huge satisfaction to eliminate materials like plastic, rubber or other non-ecological products and still deliver an aesthetic piece of furniture without cramping your interior. By doing the production ourselves, we eliminate as much waste as possible.

Since the successful launch of our first product Nest in 2017, we feel that people have the same beliefs how cat furniture should be today.

The vision ‘designed for cat and human’ is a result of decomposing every aspect of the current functionality of furniture. Designing for cat owners is an aesthetic challenge, whereas designing for cat is more about material selection and analyzing animal behavior.
