Naomi is a very social operational Explosives Detection Dog in K9 Detection Belgium .

Their Milagro Van de Duvetorre is almost 12 years old , born on 09/04/2013, and they are very happy that he is in good shape. They enjoy each others company and the activities they do together.

In het Nederlands vertaald :Volgens een studie van de Universiteit van Helsinki en gepubliceerd in het tijdschrift Nature staat de Mechelaar, een Belgisch ras, bovenaan de lijst van de intelligentste honden ter wereld.

Het is een Finse studie die een lijst van hondenrassen opstelt, van de meest intelligente tot de minst intelligente (omdat er toch wel een laatste moet zijn). Wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Helsinki presenteerden 1.002 honden van 13 verschillende rassen met een reeks problemen bij het testen van intelligentie en gedrag.

Dierenarts Bart Stegen, geïnterviewd door Het Nieuwsblad, legt uit: “Twee rassen vallen cognitief op: de Mechelaar en de Border Collie. Beide rassen waren oorspronkelijk actief op boerderijen om de kuddes te begeleiden. Dit vereist beheersing van zichzelf. Tientallen jaren van natuurlijke selectie hebben alleen maar versterkt deze zelfbeheersing.

Dat de Mechelaarherder over de hele wereld als politiehond wordt gebruikt, is volgens hem geen toeval, “door hun cognitieve kwaliteiten zijn ze makkelijk te trainen. En daarnaast hebben ze een goed ontwikkeld reukvermogen, beter dan dat van borderliners.” collies.

Onder de andere meest intelligente rassen vinden we de Border collie, de Hovawart en de Spaanse Waterhond.

Johan and his team wish all the followers of this page, all dog sport enthusiasts, dog lovers, Belgian Malinois lovers, and more, a positive end of the year and all the best in 2025. It doesn’t have to be big things. First and foremost, we wish good health for both people and animals. That remains very important. This period also gives us the opportunity to thank the followers of this page, our supporters. In the meantime, we are looking forward to the first litter of 2025, or perhaps the last one of 2024? Who knows. We have a female that is heavily pregnant.

We love seeing working ´Duvetorres´. However, for breeder Johan, it is equally important to breed stable dogs. Dogs with a big heart and drive to work , but who can also be social. That´s why we´re so happy to receive photos like these. Thank you Frederik.
