Dear valued clients,
We hope that you and your fur-babies have stayed safe, have bonded closely, and remained healthy over these past few months. We are pleased to announce that after months of waiting, and a few bumps in the road, Dr. Michael Freifeld, has officially been licensed as a Veterinarian in the Bahamas! We are so happy to have him available to see your pets, starting now! Dr. Michael has spent the majority of his Veterinary career in Emergency Medicine and overnight care, but has also spent some time working with pocket pets, birds and exotic animals! He has used these past few months productively, to not only become a prolific baker, but also to become Fear Free Certified, which is a change of pace in the interactions we have in the Veterinary setting. We are trying to make their Veterinary experience more positive and enjoyable with behavioral techniques and calming treatments! If you would like to know more about Fear Free, please click here! We will be continuing the trend of seeing and treating every and any animal regardless of fur, scales, or hooves!
Please feel free to message Meghan at 829-6345 to schedule appointments or Dr. Michael at 422-6345 for urgent needs!
A little bit about Dr. Michael:
Dr. Michael Freifeld was born in Long Island, NY, and has had a close bond with animals for as long as he can remember. From insects to alpacas, he has spent the majority of his time around animals. He studied Animal Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he developed a stress reducing device for alpacas and llamas undergoing procedures and shearing, called the Calm-a-Lid. He then went on to Veterinary School at Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine, in Ithaca, NY, where he pursued knowledge in as many species of animals as possible with a goal of being a mixed animal Veterinarian. After graduation, he went on to complete a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital, in Hollywood, FL, where he continued to work for 3 more years. He then moved on to strictly overnight care and emergency medicine at Pet Emergency Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with focus on surgery and exotic animal medicine. He was consistently visiting the Bahamas to see Dr. Pinder throughout these years, before finally deciding to try island living for himself. He married Amanda in November and is now officially a resident of the Bahamas. In his free time, Michael enjoys freediving, scuba diving, photography, shelling, and hiking with Amanda and both of their dogs, Ivy and Munsie.
