VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT.

Caylee and her mum Hilary have helped out the last two Saturdays and plan to volunteer regularly going forward.

Along with helping at the shelter, Caylee had a bake sale event at her school and donated the money she raised to Abaco Shelter. Thank you Caylee!

Here she is with with fellow shelter volunteer and member of the Board, Victoria Albury; and one of our newest rescues, Winnie.

We are a volunteer run organization and we always need help feeding and caring for the dogs. If you’d like to join us, please message us for more information.

Also, parents if you have teen age children who need community hours for school or who belong to a team or group (boy scouts, sports team, church youth group, etc.) please consider their participation at the shelter.

UPDATE: we were first advised of a single 6 week old puppy with a green collar. We then received a second call regarding another puppy also found alone with a green collar. We now believe the puppies are siblings and that they were abandoned. Thank you to those who stepped up and kept the babies overnight.

Thanks Bruce, our current self-appointed puppy wrangler (9 in the last week) picked them both up and brought them to foster.

So, here the newest babies! Our Foster Mom Nancy has currently added them to her current brood! But we desperately need fosters for puppies. They are too young to be at the shelter.

If you or someone you know are in need of some unconditional love, puppies are known to fill that void! Whether for a week or two, or longer, we need your help! We provide food and vaccines.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.

The owners of these three wonderful dogs are having to rehome them. We do not have room at Abaco Shelter. They will be in foster care temporarily and hopefully find new homes very soon.

All three are house trained and leash trained.

Scrap is a brown neutered male and loves the water, not sure of age.

Luffy is a brindle neutered male about 1.5 years old.

Kuma is a black spayed female, do not know her age.

URGENT ALERT!!! Do you recognize this puppy?

Today this sweet baby was found alone by the courts at New Vision. We don’t know if it was dumped. It has a green collar.

People were asked in the area of Sweetings Village but we did not find its parents. Thankfully a good samaritan has taken this baby home for the night.

In addition to our daily feeding, watering and p**p cleanup, our volunteers have other things they do. Today our volunteer Bruce traveled to trap 7 puppies! He will also catch the mom, get her spayed and return her to her owner.

We have a health protocol at the shelter for all dogs/pups. It is designed to give those we rescue the ability to be as healthy as possible. We first put them in quarantine to protect our existing pups/dogs. The puppies here were assessed for any immediate medical need and temperament. They are now completely vaxed, treated for fleas & ticks and started on a dewormer. In the future they will be vaccinated and spayed/neutered.

DOG ALERT IN TREASURE CAY!!! PLS SHARE!!!

Recognize this girl?

She met up with walkers on Windward in TC. She has a collar but she is very thin, looks like she may have had a litter and got mastitis? She has a mass hanging that looks like she had a teet that was swollen and then dried up. She is SUPER friendly.

We love getting updates on our pups lives!!!!

This is Harley, black with white paw tips, playing with her pup siblings. One of our fire rescue pups. Out of a litter of 8, only 2 survived and they are both thriving.

It has been reported that she recently had puppies but neighbors have not seen them.

The police will be called because she is currently chasing cats in the neighborhood and is outside all the time, roaming.

If this is your dog, please go get her. If you know who she belongs to, please tell the owners to go get her or private message us, so we can contact them.

If she is a stray, please let us know.

UPDATE: Sadie has been adopted!!!

Our babies, Cinnamon and Sadie have left Abaco, flying in luxury, on Quinn Airlines! A big thank you to Sherry & Johnny Quinn for graciously delivering our precious cargo.

It takes a village to fulfill dreams of a new life for our puppers. In addition to transport, Sherry secured Cinnamon’s new home.

Patti Boyle of Buddies for Life Inc. has a foster lined up for Sadie. We are sure she will find her furever home quickly. She will be in the Orlando area. If you or anyone you know are interested in Sadie, please contact buddiesforlifeinc.com.

Puppies, puppies, puppies

This litter of 7 was rescued from under an abandoned vehicle. They came to our shelter without a mother. They were split up and fostered in two homes, to better socialize them. They now love to be cuddled and are all back together with our super foster mom Nancy!

One pupper has left the nest, seven to go! Please consider adopting one of these adorable babies. And forward to all your friends and family so we can get these darlings into their furever homes.

We have had to turn down puppy litters due to lack of fosters. The saddens us because we don’t know where they go when we have to say no. If you are interested in fostering, please contact us for more information.

Our girl Sadie is jumping with joy, because she will be flying to Florida next week.

Sadie will be going to Patti Boyle’s Rescue buddiesforlifeinc.com. She will be in the Orlando area with a foster.

Sadie is a sweet, loving, fun, beautiful, spunky girl. If you or anybody, you know, needs a new potcake, please consider Sadie!

Traveling with Sadie will be our boy Cinnamon! He is off to his new life and his forever home. We wish him the best. ❤️

And a big thanks to Potcake Lovers, Sherry and Johnny Quinn who kindly offer to fly our pups stateside whenever needed!!! We could not do what we do without the help of our supporters!

We hate that we have to turn down requests to take in puppies and stray dogs but we just do not have room. Even with these 2 leaving we will again be over capacity.

Please spread the word! We still have lots of puppies, some only available for foster because of their young age. But other puppies and dogs are available for adoption or foster.
