General information

OBJECTS; • To encourage riding as a sport and recreation, to promote good fellowship amongst riders and to improve and maintain the standard of riding and horsemanship. • To come up with initiatives that will help in deviating the youth from unacceptable social-ills which some include; immoral behavior, drug and alcohol abuse all leading to risks such as HIV/AIDS. • To help develop the youth into high impact entrepreneurs to accelerate economic diversification and employment creation in Botswana. • To join hands with other NGOs and organisations in fight to improving humanity issues and dignity at personal level. • To participate in Charity endeavors. • To promote horse racing as a sport code. • To be affiliated to other local and regional Horse Riding Clubs/ Authorities and to support and co-operate with recognized organizations interested in the breeding and use of specific breeds and types of horses. • To participate in National Days through Horse activities. • To promote proper care and management of horses throughout the country. • To promote tourism product diversification away from wildlife tourism • To concern ourselves with any objective that may benefit both the horse and the horse user. • To organise instructional meetings, lectures and competitive events and other activities to further these objects MEMBERSHIP; PLATINUM MEMBERSHIP This membership is available only to Horse Owners and Sponsors/donors. Horse owners who are eligible of the membership in this category are those who guarantee to provide their horses for events while sponsors who qualify for the membership are those that donate or sponsor us with an annual amount totaling to at least P1, 000.00. Holders would not pay subscription fees. The Executive Committee has the discretion to accept and refuse a person this membership. HONORARY MEMBERSHIP This membership may be conferred by the committee upon any person deemed to them to have rendered devoted outstanding service to the society and persons prominent in the national life of Botswana. Honorary membership may be extended for any such period as may be decided at the time of election. The membership will only be conferred at the club’s events and no subscription fees will be payable for this membership. GOLD MEMBERSHIP The subscription fee for this membership shall be P250 per annum and being a holder will bring along benefits and privileges among others such as subsidized entry at GHR Events and subsidized prices with GHR partners. Only persons over the age of 18 shall be eligible for this membership. SILVER MEMBERSHIP The subscription fee for this membership shall be P100 per annum and being a holder comes along with benefits and privileges lower than those of the Gold Membership. Anybody over the age of 14 shall be eligible to becoming a member under this category. PARTNER / FAMILY MEMBERSHIP This type of membership will be available to partners and their children below the age of 18. The subscription for this membership shall be P250.00 per annum and the benefits that come along this type of membership shall be similar to those applicable to Silver members. Each family has the right to one vote. Family members 18years and older who no longer reside with the family will be responsible for their own dues. Those attending college but still living at home during school breaks would be considered family members. STUDENT MEMBERSHIP It is through this membership that we intend to target the youth in schools to further our objectives. Under this membership one can only qualify through their school branch. Each student member will be entitled to a subscription of P25.00 and the school branch shall be entitled to a subscription of P150.00 per annum. This is subject to change from time to time. Activities and benefits that we intend to have for members under this category are among others as follows; • Peer education discussion forums – the youth discussing issues that concern them. • Setting up discussion forums and interactive user accounts for our members through our website which is currently under construction (Check www.goldenhorses.org). • Producing informative publications such as newsletters to communicate to the youth under this category. • Entrepreneurial seminars – were we would invite prominent entrepreneurs to come and address and motivate the youth about entrepreneurship. • Exhibiting youth projects at the club’s events. • Running entrepreneurship competitions and funding or helping the winners source funding for their projects. • Offering the youth with horse riding lessons. • Offering the youth with a chance to becoming trained professional jockeys (through our partnership strategies with South African Jockeys Academy) • Attending organized youth group tours to horse events around the country and even to international events such as the Durban July.
