NOTICE: Temporary closure of the Xunantunich archaeological reserve.

The Institute of Archaeology, National Institute of Culture and History, hereby advises tour operators, tour guides, and the general public that due to the ongoing upgrade of the George Price Highway in San Jose Succotz Village, Cayo district, it has become necessary for the closure of the Xunantunich archaeological reserve until October 14, 2024.

For any further inquiries or concerns, kindly contact Institute of Archaeology at 822-2106 or via e-mail @belize.org.

the IA/NICH regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates your understanding.

Please note that unless otherwise advised, all other archaeological reserves remain open for visitation.

We thank each and everyone of our guests, team members, colleagues and tourism partners who have made us part of their belizean adventure, we take this opportunity to inform you all that we will be taking some time off to enjoy some time working with our loved herd of horses and other matters that need attending, as well as, enjoy some well deserved vacation time.
