Dog waste decays and disintegrates over a much longer period of time, releasing a significant amount of harmful bacteria and undigested chemical nutrients into the surrounding environment.
Spay and neuter your pets!!!!
📣A single cat can have a significant number of kittens in her lifetime if she’s not spayed. Here’s how:
🐈⬛Average litter size: 3 to 5 kittens (but can range from 1 to 12)
🐈⬛Number of litters per year: 2 to 3 on average (up to 4 in some cases)
🐈⬛Reproductive lifespan: About 8 to 10 years
Using these averages:
🐾Low estimate: 3 kittens per litter × 2 litters per year × 8 years = 48 kittens.
🐾High estimate: 5 kittens per litter × 3 litters per year × 10 years = 150 kittens.
So, an unspayed cat could potentially have anywhere from 48 to 150 kittens in her lifetime. If each of her offspring then has the same number of litters/kittens in her lifetime they can produce more than 400,000 cats! 🤯
This highlights the importance of spaying to prevent overpopulation.
Our Telephone lines are back up, sorry for any inconvenience
Feel free to contact us to make an appointment!
Please neuter & spay your pets!

Why was my mother looking for my vaccination certificates and is now calling the Vet Hospital 😫?
¿Por qué mi madre estaba buscando mis certificados de vacunación y ahora está llamando al Hospital Veterinario 😫?
———————————————————
Don’t wait until it’s too late to vaccinate! Call us to schedule your pet’s vaccinations appointment! ☺️
One of the biggest challenges we face at the Veterinary Hospital are pets that come with vaccination cards, receipts,, or owners claiming that the breeder/groomer vaccinated and dewormed pet before they got them. Must of this vaccination records do not show adequate information or even shows that pet was not properly vaccinated nor properly dewormed.
In order for your pet to be properly vaccinated/protected a protocol of vaccination must be taken into place.
When you visit your trained veterinary staff for puppy vaccines you are informed on the importance of vaccines and why this vaccines should follow a schedule in order for a successful immunization and deworming program.
DO NOT AUTOMEDICATE YOUR PETS WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH YOUR VETERINARY HOSPITAL!
Veterinary Clinics in Belize are witnessing an increase in parvo cases among dogs, including those partially vaccinated.
One of the biggest benefits of a pet water fountain is that will keep your pet's water fresh so that you don't have to. If you have a dog or cat who is very particular about the state of their water, an automatic waterer might be your best bet.
Now look no further and call us if you have any further questions! ☺️

As the heat wave continues The San Pedro Veterinarian Hospital takes this time to educate pet owners on how to protect their beloved pets.
Why do cats or dogs get heat stroke?
It’s easy for our pets to overheat in warm weather. Unlike us, they can’t remove layers when it gets hot, and they don’t always have an option to move themselves to cooler places or avoid the sun. Animals are unable to cool down by sweating as humans do, so they are less able to regulate their body temperature.
Which animals are more susceptible to heatstroke?
•Animals that are overweight
•Flat faced breeds such as Pugs and French •Bulldogs, or Persian cats
•Pets with thick coats
•Old or very young animals
•Animals with pre-existing conditions, particularly airway, lung or heart problems
What causes heatstroke in pets ?
It doesn’t always have to be ‘hot’ for an animal to develop heatstroke. Exercising excessively in warm weather, or being left in a warm or humid environment that is poorly ventilated can cause animals to quickly overheat.
Early signs of heatstroke in pet animals-
•Panting, this can progress to distressed or noisy •breathing as the heatstroke worsens
•Restlessness or agitation, pacing, seeking shade or water
•Drooling
•Red gums or tongue
•Increased heart rate
•Vomiting or diarrhoea
•Lethargy
•Confusion
•Weakness or collapse
•Seizures
First aid for heatstroke in cats and dogs - tips for pet owners-
•Take your pet somewhere cool, ideally a well ventilated area or use a fan or air conditioner
•Cold water immersion is an effective approach for young, healthy dogs ONLY
•Pour rubbing alcohol in all 4 paws
MUST IMPORTANTLY-

Parvovirus
What is parvovirus?
Parvo is a deadly virus which infects puppies and young dogs.
Although less common, adult dogs who have not been vaccinated can be infected.
Signs of illness
This virus causes vomiting, and diarrhea (which may be bloody). It can lead to severe dehydration, and bacteria spreading throughout the body. Both of these will cause death if left untreated.
***ANY PUPPY WITH VOMITING OR DIARRHEA SHOULD BE SEEN BY A VETERINARIAN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!***
How do they get parvo?
An infected dog will release the parvovirus into the environment in very large numbers. Once in the environment the virus is easily carried on shoes and clothing to other environments. An unvaccinated puppy needs to contact only a small amount of virus to get sick
***PUPPIES SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY FROM PUBLIC OUTDOOR AREAS UNTIL THEY HAVE RECEIVED ALL THEIR VACCINATIONS AT 15-16 WEEKS OF AGE***
Prevention
Vaccination will prevent parvovirus. All puppies should receive their first vaccine at 6-8 weeks of age, and continue to get one every 3-4 weeks until 15-16 weeks of age. They are only fully protected once they have received their final puppy vaccine. Yearly vaccination should continue throughout a dog’s life in order to maintain protection.
***VACCINATION IS THE BEST PROTECTION FROM PARVO***
