On September 10 our practice manager Adam rode 50km in the Ride for Farley, in an effort to raise funds for the Farley Foundation.

Great weather that day and as a group 40,000 dollars was raised for Farley. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to donate.

Hello everyone! This year our practice manager Adam Trenton has decided to participate in the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association's Ride for Farley. The Farley Foundation helps sick and injured pets providing financial assistance to those people that don't have the ability to do so.

If your dog is at risk, make sure to ask us about adding leptospirosis to your vaccine protocol!

Leptospirosis is a disease caused by bacteria carried mainly by rodents and wildlife. Pets can become infected through contact with the urine of infected animals such as raccoons, skunks and rats. Dogs can also contract the disease by swimming in stagnant water or drinking contaminated puddle water. If your outdoor activities could put your dog at risk, speak to your veterinarian to learn if the leptospirosis vaccine is suitable for your pet.

While ticks can be hard to spot on your pet, especially if they have more fur, they do have some favourite hiding spots. If your dog or cat has been outdoors, make sure to check them for ticks daily.

In addition to changing your clocks and switching the batteries in your smoke detectors, can also be a great reminder to book your pet's annual exam. Routine checkups with your veterinarian can help prevent diseases through early detection and can help you avoid unexpected treatment costs later on.
