Meet Will. Will is 11 weeks old. This is Will’s second time on sheep. We like Will.
Bo will make a wonderful beginner dog. As it happens, I am not a beginner. PM me for details.
Super excited by Bo. My videographer was a little surprised by my daughters toy tractor in the training pen.
Bringing in the sheep for todays fun trial. I could barely see the sheep and couldn’t see my dog at all. Thank god for my boy Blue.
Agribition update.
Super fun week spent with friends and family. My daughter was able to join me on our parade of handlers and we were able to spend valuable time with my sisters family who was nice enough to let us temporarily move in. I wish my dogs were fun to run but here we are.
How I did:
Sweep: my dear old man is and always has been a low power dog. The fresh lambs turned out to be far more then he could move. He didn’t back down mind you. In fact he literally got ran over three times. But after having a stock stand off I retired on both my runs.
Blue: ran in his first Cattle dog trial and my first Open cattle dog trial. He was not confident. We did manage to get the cattle to the sort obstacle but that’s as far as his confidence took us. The cattle simply looked at him but that was enough to scare him off. Now the lambs on the other hand, he could move them. This trial had judged grips; meaning that the dog could use teeth where the judge deemed it fair and necessary. My first run with Blue was after I had the staring contest with Sweep. Now I knew Blue would bite when allowed and I knew we were allowed, so I took full advantage. In fact I took too much advantage and was rightfully disqualified. My second run had simply awful moments but we managed to harass the sheep into the pen with a top 10 time. I will provide video evidence of this debacle of a second run but I am at least proud of my boy at the pen. Enjoy.
So Rhee can’t make it to the Cattle Dog trial at Agribition this year on account of being a mother. Blue is still new to the cow thing but we snuck away tonight to try and get ready for the show. It’ll be his and my first time running in the Open for cattle, may the odds ever be in our favour.
Does anyone have any tips on balance? Been struggling with this one.
Boy named Blue. Won’t be two until January but he is quickly becoming the go to
Pretty excited about this two year old female. Coming along pretty good I’d say.
