Frankie is THE definition of a Lovebug. This sweet and affectionate cat came to us as a stray with a severely injured eye.

❤️ Linens & Towels needed please! ❤️

We need your help to top up our blanket & towels supply.

NEEDED: (Used) clean towels, comforters, sheets, small blankets, fleece blankets. We do not accept used clothing as the animals spend too much time dressing up! 😉

Our shelter is running low and desperately needs more blankets and towels so we can provide warm, comfy beds to the homeless pets in our care.

If you’ve been meaning to do a clean-out of your closets, now is the perfect time! Our shelter will be happy to take those unwanted blankets and towels off your hands.

Drop off can be between shelter hours 8:30am - 4:30pm or we have a donation bin outside our front door!

HOW DO WE SAY THIS.......

14 years of helping raccoons has been an amazing and rewarding experience for Barb and myself. Such beautiful animals they are.

Mallys seemed to grow its own engine and took off with sooo many kind and incredible people joining the cause. It has been a privilege and honor to work with everyone and we can't thank all enough for helping to save so many lives here and out there.

Such a network including great staff, rescuers, volunteers, Doctors, teachers, animal advocates, municipal governments, provincial government, schools/universities and the list goes on.

Baby season is winding down and tough decisions need to be made for the community sake and our own sanity and well being and we don't want to leave everything to the last minute without giving/including the community with plenty of notice.

Unfortunately and sadly, through many discussions with our board and between Barb and myself, our final day will be Sept 30 to keep the doors open other than some raccoons that may need to winter with us. We will make sure they are safe and cared for. Giving notice is the responsible thing to do we feel considering our circumstances.

It has been beyond stressful and has drained our personal funding and this remains no way to run a wildlife center on $3200.00/mth in mthly donations plus pleading for help when a sick one comes in. We never know, if we can help one tomorrow or not. We have exceeded our limits for sometime now and are unable to proceed suplimenting the needs. Our passion has taken all we have, money heart and soul.

With giving 60 days notice to the community and friends, ultimately Mallys, the organization is in your hands. I would be beyond sad to see such an incredible network need to unwind as it may never happen again, but reality is a tough wall to face sometimes. I have had many sleepless nights trying to think of solutions.

So in the end, I have one final hope and challenge to extend to the community for the sake of the animals and a final prayer......and that is for many that can, in small amounts, to meet the current average obligation of 20k per mth in expenses (we have 3200.00 currently) so this resource can remain in Ontario. We don't what else to do. This would be as simple as 1000 people giving 20$ per mth. But yet not so simple....... but we have to at least try one last time.

We will post updates as we approach Sept 30 as Mallys is now up to you. I can't do it on my own any more. The stress of not knowing what can be achieved or paid tomorrow over the years is slowly taking Barbs and my life physically and mentally :( this is true.

Saving animals like Calder below (picture taken yesterday) who had mouth surgery and doing well is where my heart is, but if it's not doable, it's not doable :( I understand. We have done all we can and know how to do. We at least together tried, saved many souls and that's a good thing.

⛑ Together we can reunite animals with their families!

Every year our officers pick up many animals, alive ☀️ and deceased 👼🏽 , with no identification. Most of the time these animals sit and wait for their families to pick them up from the shelter, but sadly, even through our best efforts ☎️ 💻 ✍🏽 , they aren’t reunited with what they knew their life was and instead are adopted out into new forever loving families 🏡 (Which we are so eternally grateful for).

Families are always left wondering, “What happened to our pet?” 💭 With a microchip, the animal world will bring you and your pet back together as soon as possible 🥰. When a found pet is brought into a shelter the first thing we do is scan for a microchip 🔎. Un-microchipped animals are often kept longer in shelters, adding more time in limbo, and resulting in heightened stress for the animal 💔. As a result, this can keep them from hitting the adoption floor for weeks or months until they are feeling their best. (A huge 🙏🏼 to our fosters who help those animals get their smile back and ready for their new journey! 🏁)

Although we are insanely thankful for the many loving people who adopt our fur babies 💋 - we feel like there’s just one more thing we can do to make sure we are giving the best chance of reuniting found animals with their families 🏡.

And that is why we are hosting a Microchip Clinic this coming Saturday August 20 from 10am - 2pm at Rens Pet Depot in the Town of Whitby. Please read the poster for further details!

Can’t wait to see you all there! 🥰☀️
