hello everyone!

just a friendly reminder from your neighbourhood pet lover! if you’re hot, so is your pet. here’s a couple quick tips for a happy, and more importantly healthy, summer!

1. please do not take your dog for a run before their grooming appointment. keep walks short just for a potty break since they will get hot during their grooming!
2. always hold your hand to the pavement for 10 seconds. if it’s too hot for you, your pup can’t walk on it!
3. if your dog is panting really hard, wait to give water or food. this will prevent their stomach from flipping!
4. if your car is hot for you, please don’t leave them unattended.
5. if you miss a walk due to weather conditions, it’s okay, there’s enrichment to be done at home to exercise their mind! wrap some treats in a blanket and watch your pup work to get them out. it’s fun for you and them!

Zakia’s paws would like to welcome Allyn Ducharme

Allyn has had passion for animals for as long she can remember. When she was 8 years old, she got her very first dog after pleading for one for many years. Scamp needed a new home, and her family finally decided that Scamp would come home with them. It was love at first sight for Allyn. After Scamp had a previous traumatic grooming experience, her family found Zakia’s Paw Shoppe. Megan was able to heal Scamp’s relationship with grooming. After a long and beautiful life, Scamp passed away in October 2023. Allyn sees him in everything she has accomplished since his passing.

Allyn’s original career path was in sales until she decided to take a different route with animals. She started walking and pet sitting before going to grooming school. She received her certification in pet grooming and canine first aid in March 2024. Allyn knew that she belonged at Zakia’s Paw Shoppe, where she could provide the same healing experience that Scamp had to any pup that walks through the door. In addition to grooming, if you would like your dog walked in our beautiful local trails, Allyn would be happy to help!

Found abandoned bunny. Anyone have room to adopt or pet sit until finding a permanent home. No shelters that willing to take in. Very sweet, calm, doesn’t mind bathing and brushing.

Well for most of us everyday is already animal day…but today is even more special!🐈💖

On this furry special day, as we celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, let us remember that 'big or small, we love them all.'
