Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday of next week.

Text messages have been sent out for everyone who normally has Hour Solos or Groups.

All walks will be shortened to 30 minutes and we will follow the lead of the dogs. Once they are showing discomfort the remaining time will be spent playing indoors.

πŸ₯Ά Are You Ready!? πŸ₯Ά

It's been a relatively mild Winter so far in most of Ontario, but that's about to change dramatically! A massive Polar Vortex is moving down from the Arctic, and it will put not only Canada, but most of North America, in the deep freeze. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday appear to be at the peak of the brutally cold temperatures, but tomorrow is not going to be picnic weather, either.

If possible, have a secondary heat source available in case your furnace fails and/or the power goes out. Do not use bbqs, camp stoves or gas generators inside. The carbon monoxide fumes can kill you. Leave the water taps dripping - even the tiniest bit can help keep your pipes from freezing in an outage.

If you do have to go out, frostnip/frostbite is a real concern at these temperatures. Cover exposed skin and limit exposure time as much as possible. Frostnip is best treated by soaking in warm - not hot - water to gently re-warm fingers and toes. Use a warm facecloth on nose and cheeks. For frostbite, seek medical attention promptly.

If you are driving, dress as if you are walking instead. Car trouble could put you in danger pretty quickly.

And last, but certainly not least, please - PLEASE - be mindful of your pets! Most dogs and cats are simply not equipped to deal with extreme cold like this. Bring them inside!

Stay safe, stay warm. πŸ€—
