Alliston & District Humane Society would like to send a huge 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔 to the Petfinder Foundation! We have been awarded the 2024 GF Pet Product Grant. Our dogs and cats have a wonderful new set of collars, leashes, blankets, harnesses, pet jackets and much more! Here Willow models her lovely new GF harness and leash!

Urgent Call for Experienced Foster Homes: Help Rex Thrive!

Our shelter is in desperate need of a foster home for Rex, a large-breed dog who is not only struggling with the stress of the shelter environment but also battling specific behavioral challenges that require a dedicated, experienced foster to help him succeed. Rex has the potential to be an amazing companion, but he needs your help to reach his full potential.

Rex is a 1-year-old Mountain Cur mix with a sensitive nature. He exhibits guarding issues and is touch-sensitive, which means he needs a calm, patient handler who understands his boundaries and can work on building trust with him. Despite his current struggles, Rex shows signs of being a loyal and affectionate dog once he feels safe. He’s a quick learner and will thrive under the care of an experienced foster who can help him build confidence and overcome his challenges.
Rex will be enrolled in board and train to give him the tools he needs to succeed, but we can’t start this journey until we find him a foster home where he can feel secure and start his rehabilitation.
Rex’s ideal foster will have strong handling skills, experience with large breeds, and patience to slowly introduce him to new situations in a way that keeps him feeling safe.

Why Fostering Matters:
Rex is not thriving in the shelter, where the constant noise and unpredictable environment only make his behavioral challenges worse. In a foster home, Rex will have the chance to decompress, get the one-on-one attention he desperately needs, and begin his journey toward becoming well-adjusted, and loving companion.

What We’re Looking For:
We need a foster who is:
Experienced with large breeds and able to handle dogs with challenging behaviors.
Patient and committed to working through Rex’s unique needs with consistency and care.
Able to provide structure and a calm environment where Rex can learn and grow.

Miller's donation to the Allison Humane Society was a heartfelt gesture that showed his commitment to helping animals in need. By collecting donations from his birthday, he not only raised funds for the organization but also raised awareness about the importance of supporting animal welfare.

Munchie's new family has been eagerly waiting for him, and they are already prepared with toys, treats, and a cozy bed for him to sleep in. They have even set up a special area just for him to play and explore.

Munchie's journey may have started out rough, but now he is on the path to a happy and fulfilling life with a family who will cherish him forever. He is grateful for his new beginning and excited for all the adventures that lie ahead.

Cleaning up after your labour day long weekend festivities? Bring us your empty liquor, wine or beer bottles and cans! These empties raise funds to support the care of abandoned pets in the community.

Empties can be dropped off at the back of our shelter at 5545 Concession Road 4, Everett at any time!
