Why do I love him so much? It’s Sunday, and I’m busy working away, trying to catch up from last week so I can have some measure of order and peace tomorrow (is that even possible on a Monday?). He quietly lays down in front me, and those soulful eyes tell me it’s ok. It’s going to be ok. I’m ok. So just stop and breathe. Take in this moment. Because all we have is now, and now is what matters most. And this is why we love them SO much 🐾❤️. They keep us grounded in the now and exactly where we need to be.

A bitter sweet day yesterday as I had my last swim session with “Marty” before he heads out east to begin the next chapter of his life! I will sure miss this cheeky fellow but I know he is leaving healthy and has maintained his mobility to the best of his ability over the past 3+ years coming to Paws Swim Therapy! ❤️🐾💦🥰

Here is senior “Rigley” ( 12 years old ) all smiles because he was back in to Paws Swim Therapy’s hydrotherapy schedule after 6 weeks! Pour Rigs had an ulcer on his eye and required round the clock drops to resolve the issue! After his first session back his owner said “ he had the best sleep, so relaxed! See you tomorrow handsome fellow!

Thankful Thursday

This behemoth of a dog arrived as an extremely fearful 'stray'. He was walked into a local shelter, and dumped off with the 'finder' refusing to provide a name, address, or identification. They asked us to come and pick him up and once back at the kennel we immediately scanned him for a microchip.

We were delighted to find that this man had a microchip! We called the number right away and found that it was linked back to his original breeder (who was horrified to hear her baby boy was impounded). She contacted the owner who did not reclaim him, and ultimately made arrangements with us to come pick him up.

Not only did the breeder stand behind a dog she had put out in the world, she took a day off of work to drive several hours from North Bay to come pick him up! She intends to rehome him when the time comes, but in the meantime ... We want to extend our thanks.

THANK YOU to the breeder who refused to allow her puppy to add any more strain to a the overflowing sheltering system. THIS is what responsible breeders do.

Happy 8th Birthday to this very cute morkie “Coco” we have so much fun on Tuesday nights! Coco has been coming weekly for her swim sessions for 4 years this fall. The owner has avoided surgery for luxating patella and cruciate injuries. During the years I have known “Coco” she has been fed home cooked to now a balanced commercial raw diet, periodic visits to the Holistic Vet, and has continued to enjoy a great quality of life with her family! Don’t let that sweet face fool you she can tear apart a toy quickly with that terrier in her! 😂 but how can you say no! Enjoy your liver treats birthday girl! ❤️🐾💦🥰🥳

I enjoy weekly hydrotherapy sessions with this gentle giant, almost 3 year old bullmastiff “Stella” her left hind was repaired last summer with a TPLO and with conservative management and hydrotherapy we are so far avoiding surgery on the right hind! Stella likes to do things her way and the compromise is an easy purposeful treading alongside the wall. Safe and seems to be effective,every breed and every dog within the breed takes to water in their own way! See you later Stella Bella! ❤️🐾😊💦

How sad 😭🙏I can’t believe this his is still happening 😭

38 ~~~ That's the number of punctures Gigi has after being attacked by another dog. There are bite wounds all over her body - head, neck, back, and all four of her legs.

Gigi came to us as a result of a negligence investigation into a commercial breeder. Gigi and 30 other dogs lived together producing litter after litter of puppies. As with many commercial breeders, Gigi's puppies were sold through Kijiji with the buyers being told they are "home raised".

Gigi has asked us to pass along a message - PLEASE don't disregard your puppies' parents because sometimes the truth lies behind closed doors.

Gigi is a Labradoodle with a lot of poodle in there! She is 5 years old and is an amazingly sweet, kind, and gentle dog. Despite her traumatic experience, Gigi seems to appreciate other dogs company and loves people. When she arrived, she moved as though she was in a dream - very slowly without looking at anyone directly. We are excited that she is finally starting to heal and engage with the people around her.

Gigi isn't quite ready to move to a new home but she might be ready to consider a foster-to-adopt.

Your $700 dog adoption fee ensures that your new pet comes with the following:

* Full Vet check
* Microchipped
* Vaccinated, Dewormed
* Adult dogs are spayed/neutered
* Puppies come with a $200 spay/neuter voucher
* Outrun team members are available after the adoption to support the adopters and make the transition to the pup‘s new home as seamless as possible.
