I do have the cutest pups coming to Paws Swim Therapy! Coco is here weekly for her hydrotherapy sessions! And looks and moves now so well for 8 1/2 years young! Here she is all bundled up post session and rinse off thinking she is taking the bumper home! How can anyone say no to those sweet eyes! 🥰🐾💦

Yes the corporations are buying up many of the vet clinics this has been happening for years. Perhaps something to watch tonight? 🐾

Please watch the CBC Marketplace episode “Cause for Paws” airing tonight, Friday 24 January, at 8pm. They are investigating the troubling incidence of big corporations buying up established vet practices, and the corresponding rise in the cost of services across the board. This is of concern not only to pet owners, but also to rescues, for a number of reasons. Not only do rescues have to pay the higher prices (and the corporate practices generally don’t offer any kind of rescue discount), but we are seeing a rise in the number of pets being surrendered because owners cannot afford the cost of treatment, and a significant drop in adoption rates, partly because people feel pet ownership is now too expensive. If you miss the program, you can watch any time on YouTube or CBC Gem. There are also two good articles on the CBC website (one about the vet clinic takeovers, the other about the cost of veterinary medication). We can’t provide links, because FB doesn’t allow it, but they’re easy to find.

One month ago today this very special and talented “Traffic” left a whole in the heart of many especially his family! I met Traffic over 13 years ago when he started coming to Paws Swim Therapy for conditioning in the winter prepping for Super Dogs or other event as there were so many! When Traffic was in his senior years he came so much more frequently to enjoy the warm salt water on a Friday evening! Such a sweet fellow and everyone who follows this page has seen him many times as he was often posing with his K9 sibling “Party!” They are now together again at The Bridge, swimming, running, catching frisbees being the most handsome shaggy boys! Forever in my heart 💔 🐾💦🌈🪽
