I've had so many clients asking for nail trims. Since I cannot provide this service to anyone at this time, I have decided to post a "How To" video here (bare with me. I had no one to record for me) and I have added a few infographics and photos in the comments section. Feel free to share it with anyone who needs guidance on nail trims. Hope this helps! . ***KEEP READING FOR A MORE THOROUGH EXPLANATION*** If you have a table or somewhere you can put your dog up higher, that will help. Keep their leash on so they can be controlled if needed and so they don't run away. If you have a prong collar, even better. Get someone to distract your dog. That person can do a combination of talking to them in soothing tones, giving treats, and rubbing their ears while you trim. They should also be holding the leash with the collar up under the jawline and behind the ears so it will be easy to keep him in place (you can do this gently, no need to use force). The person holding the leash should be ready to hold the dog back, if they are bad about getting his nails done. While the dog is standing, take the paw from behind and pull them back behind your dog. It's much easier that way, instead of trying to trim from in front. It's also easier to distract them from what's going on behind them. Stand facing the opposite direction of your dog, with your side touching them and then trim from behind by pulling the foot behind them. Unless you are very savvy with trimming nails, I always suggest to trim the nails a little bit at a time. Start with the tips and do a little more each time. If they have black nails, it's impossible to see the vein, if the nails are translucent, you can see the pink vein inside the nail if you look at the side of the nail. You want to cut close to the vein, but leave a little bit of extra space after it because you don't want to cut the vein. If you accidentally hit the vein and it bleeds, don't panic. It's not the end of the world. Even groomers can hit
