Happy Skin & Coat Pet Styling is a warm, calm environment for your fur baby’s Spa Day! Jessika Friesen, Owner, opened Happy Skin & Coat in December 2012 after six months of hands-on training with Professional Pet Groomers Association of Manitoba. She then continued her education about the health of dogs and cats for a year at Sage Creek Animal Hospital in Winnipeg. Jessika is a lifelong dog owner

herself, and it was that passion and care for dogs that lead to the opening of Happy Skin & Coat. Jessika doesn’t just pamper dogs but cats as well from head to toe, making them look, feel and smell great! We asked Jessika what motivates her, and she said, “I have the most awesome clients I could ever ask for, they are absolutely my backbone”. Happy Skin & Coat has been a member of the Altona & District Chamber of Commerce since opening in 2012. Jessika said she benefits from the Chamber Group Insurance and says it’s a good way to connect with our community. As a small business owner, Jessika understands the importance of shopping local, which is why she recently selected Smack dog food to offer her clients. Have you noticed your dog isn’t the only one covered with fur? Because of the recent mild weather, your dog’s coat may become a little confused as to what season it actually is! MJ was really shedding and I figured out the trick to remove the coat she didn’t need anymore: I’m using this handy rubber brush, and it works like a charm! A couple passes over and you’ll be able to tell what needs to come out yet. The rubber grabs onto the loose fur, and the rest stays back! A helpful tool to have on hand in between grooms too.
