If your dog is diagnosed with cancer, you might think chemo and radiation are the best treatment options.

👨‍⚕️ Veterinarian Ian Billinghurst warns that these invasive treatments may make your dog's last days miserable. Even worse, they can often do more harm than good.

👉 If you're considering chemotherapy or radiation for your dog, ask your vet these critical questions before you give your consent:

“Will the treatment you’re proposing lengthen my dog’s life?”

“Is this treatment likely to result in complete remission?”

“Will the treatment you’re proposing cause side effects? If so, what will they be and how long will they last?”

“How dangerous is this regime? What is the likelihood it will actually shorten my dog’s life or even kill my dog?”

“What will my dog’s quality of life be during treatment? What about after the treatment?”

“If my dog goes into remission and survives, what is the likelihood of permanent damage, and if so … what will that look like?”

“What will happen if we do nothing?”

👩‍🍳 You probably don't need to entice your dog to eat his broccoli … especially when it’s mixed in with fresh beef, heart and liver!

🥦 Broccoli has a list of benefits but it’s also full of sulforaphane and it’s a super hero in its own right that helps produce antioxidants. So here’s why feeding your dog broccoli is a great idea:

- It’s a powerful antioxidant to reduce premature aging and fight chronic diseases
- It’s got compounds to help with anxiety and depression
- It’s a good source of zinc to support a healthy heart, gastrointestinal health and prevent skin issues
- It’s a prebiotic that can help balance the microbiome
- Helps manage leaky gut by reducing inflammation
- Detoxes the liverIt has carotenoids that help improve eye health
- Sulforaphane helps neuron growth to improve brain health
- Sulforaphane helps prevent cancer Sulforaphane also decreases inflammation

"They tell you not to cry.
They tell you he's just a dog, not a human.
They tell you it will pass.
They tell you that animals do not know that they must die.
They tell you that the important thing is not to make them suffer.
They tell you that you can get another one.
They tell you it will happen.
They tell you there are more unbearable pains.
But they don't know how many times you've looked your dog in the eye.
They don't know how many times it was you and your dog that looked in the dark.
They don't know how many times your dog was the only one by your side.
They don't know that the only one who hasn't judged you is your dog.
They don't know how scared you were the night his moans woke you up.
They don't know how many times your dog has slept next to you.
They don't know how much you've changed since the dog became a part of your life.
They don't know how many times you hugged him when he was sick.
They don't know how many times you pretended not to see when his hair was getting whiter and whiter.
They don't know how many times you've talked to your dog, the only one who really listens to you.
They don't know how good you were to your dog.
Little do they know that only your dog knew you were in pain.
They don't know what it's like to see your old dog trying to come over and say hello.
They don't know that when things go wrong, the only one who isn't gone is your dog.
They don't know that your dog trusts you, every moment of his life, even at the last moment.
They don't know how much your dog loved you and how little he needed to be happy, because you were enough for him.
They don't know that crying for a dog is one of the noblest, most meaningful, truest and purest things you can do.
They don't know about the last time you rocked him hard ... being careful not to hurt him.
They don't know what you felt when you caressed his face in the last moments of his life"

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.
