🐾 We would also like to introduce Dr. Lishika Lange! 🐱
Dr. Lishika will be seeing patients mostly at our Hamilton location The Cat Clinic
Dr. Lishika is a Fear Free and Cat-Friendly certified veterinarian who’s passionate about providing personalized, stress-free care for every feline she meets at The Cat Clinic. She began her journey in animal welfare in 2012 and officially entered the veterinary field in 2020. She joins our team as a part-time veterinarian and we could not be more thrilled!💙
Outside the clinic, she’s either hiking, crocheting, gaming, or adventuring with her cat Midna. (Fun fact: she once gave a black bear an ID tattoo!) 🐻🐾

🐱 If you’re committed to taking on a kitten and sharing your life with them for the next 14 years or longer, considering where to get one is important in helping to make the right choice of pet for you and your lifestyle.
You could choose a kitten from a rehoming/rescue centre, buy a pedigree from a breeder, or get one through friends or family, for example. The experiences of early kittenhood and the care they’ve received, can have a lasting effect on a kitten's physical and emotional health and behaviour. Understanding their individual circumstances and needs will help you choose the right kitten and support them to settle into your home. 🐈
It’s important to know what to look for and what questions to ask, so explore our expert tips and advice, including a handy ‘Kitten Checklist’, to help you find a healthy, friendly kitten 👉 https://icatcare.org/articles/choosing-a-kitten

In a multicat household, pay attention to even the most subtle body language cues. They can say a lot about the relationships between your cats.

As a valued family member, your cat deserves top-notch care. To keep your cat healthy, ensure they have an annual checkup, more often for seniors or those with chronic conditions. During the visit, your vet will assess nutrition, lifestyle, environmental enrichment, disease and parasite prevention, and behavior. If you need more reasons to take your cat for a checkup, visit https://bit.ly/3oGEB1w.

Tip 2: Brushing can help your kitty beat the heat. Removing excess fur can help your cat regulate their temperature better. So schedule that kitty spa day!

There are many different styles of cat carriers available. You may already have one that works well for your cat, but if you don't, I typically recommend the hard plastic kennel style because of the versatility it offers. Being able to remove the top so your cat can stay in the bottom part of the carrier may help your kitty feel more secure during exams. And, as with any carrier, always double check it before placing your cat inside to be sure it's in good shape and sturdy.

You love your cat more than anything. Keeping them on a regular vaccine schedule will help them live long, healthy and happy life.
Why Vaccinate?
- Prevent serious health issues
- Protect against common feline diseases, like feline leukemia (FeLV)
- Reduce the risk of disease transmission to other animals

Owned by one of the few board certified feline veterinary specialists in Ontario, Village Cat Clinic is a fully functioning veterinary hospital in Hamilton, exclusively for feline patients.
Established in 1995, the veterinarians and staff at Village Cat Clinic understand the special bond you share with your cat. We are 100% committed to the most compassionate, high quality feline care. With an extensive experience in veterinary medicine, our dedicated team members keep pace with the latest in feline medicine and surgery. We encourage our clients to be a part of decision making and respect that every cat is an individual. Each cat is treated with the upmost dignity and compassion, as if they were truly our own.
Our hospital is equipped to provide your pet with routine medical care which includes Physical examination, laser therapy, digital radiography, ultrasound, dentistry and surgery as well as many other important services and emergency care should the need arise. Please feel free to visit the services section of our website for a more detailed listing.
We are active in both community and national charity work supporting cats and their needs. Dr. O'Brien has volunteered her time to go all over the country championing Cat Healthy by creating awareness of responsible cat ownership. Locally we are involved in the street cat program, this project partners with the HBSPCA to run a spay/neuter trap and release program for the local feral cats. This helps to control the feline populations, promotes keeping healthier cats and decreases fighting. We often have strays we have “cleaned up” that are in our hospital looking for a new home as well as providing care for several rescues.
The Village Cat Clinic welcomes new clients, emergencies, second opinions, transfers and of course our regular clients.
