Around this time of the year we start handling the foals a bit.
They are often quite independent from moms and easily "manipulated" with food...since they eat grain mixes...
And their minds are able to figure new things out!

For us...its a good way to learn about each one and how they react
Besides...we see what the stallions create...knowing their moms well.

This year is the first "Batch" of our Fenrir fra Fet son Kjarval...and we couldn't be happier.
All his offspring were super easy to deal with...
great to know for their future training!

Its finally miserable November weather here and our open and very flexible barn design allowed me to feed all 15 horses inside...from one moment to the next...
That's my happy moment in this awful wetness...

The results of Valinn's first Virtual Show are in...and we couldn't be happier! The international and experienced judges quite liked him and his scores gave me a happy dance 🙂

Valinn will be at Taktur Icelandic Horses, LLC until next summer, and if you want to grab this opportunity to use him for studservice, please get in touch with me or Carrie! Just 5 years old he already impressed quite a few trainer and judges and his foals did just the same this August!

Pictures arrived...and they are amazing!.!

So ...here is Valinn from Vindsdalur...who starts to look more and more like his famous dad Skyr fra Skalakot ...
The only thing we regret?
Not being closer and see where Carrie and Taktur Icelandic might go with him.

We are soo stoked !
This guy...Valinn from Vindsdalur...
jointed with Carrie from Taktur Icelandic Horses, LLC his first Competition winning the Green Horse 4 Gait Preliminary and came in 2. Place in the Finals with a score of 6.13 .

That means besides his obvious nice moves he handled the stress and focus of a Competition, improved his scores from one day to the next even...and that with short training ...just 5 years old.
We are happy and sending a big Thanks to Carrie...who is building him up just perfectly.

Now we wait with as much patience as possible for pictures and maybe videos of his performance.

It makes my day when owners of our horses sent photos.
Especially...when they left as young ones and turn out like this!
Because...we are aware getting a young horse is a different gamble altogether....

one lived with a Thoroughbred ...and they never groomed each other

If your dad is Valinn from Vindsdalur ( Skyr fra Skalakot) you have to endure some Mane brushing...even as a 2 year old!
Turns out...it smells really good!

Fall slowly arrives here in the Maritimes and we are happy to have our Fall/winter pasture for the mom and foal group.

Our 4 year old Kafteinn ( sadly Rothadis' last foal) develops well with Madita's excellent help.
We are very impressed with his work ethics, light and wide movements and easy going temperament.
He is getting into Toelt training now and can be available for the right person!

The Canadian version of Icelandic free run ( I wish..) is running with the 4wheeler... Valinn quite enjoys !
