started her becoming a riding horse journey today!
Thanks Jelena Ohm to do the driving all over part to deliver her into training...
I am excited to hear how Krit is doing!

It's great to do new thjngs with your horse...you both might discover stuff!

Some years ago we decided to breed our mares only every other year.

So they nurse their foals over winter without being in foal at the same time - and it sure seems to benefit moms and foals!

That allows us to breed a bigger group of mares then...and each foal is going to have a best friend!

While we really like this system..we are extra excited when there is a Foal Year coming up!
And it's a loooong wait..

2026 is a Foal year !
5 of our girls are in foal to our Fenrir fra Fet son Kjarval fra Vindal...
and of course our Skyr fra Skalakot son
Valinn from Vindsdalur!

Djasn is in foal to Kjarval for the 1.time...
Dreaming of a dark bay toelting girl ...

So is of course Valinn's mom Eilif fra Blesastaðir who gave us the gorgeous black pinto girl Olia...

Blà is also in foal to Kjarval...we expecting another Toelting machine!

Gloria and our Blakvisl will have Valinn babies

and in 2028?
We might be able to add the first Valinn daughters to the breeding group..

Proudest mom on the block today as this girl just completed the 2nd Icelandic Riding Level test amazingly 🙌 Not an easy feat and hard work, but big pay off and she learned so much!

I’m also extremely proud of my horse Ljómi, who I never thought would turn out to be this perfect partner for her. They were both born in the same year 10 years ago, and now here we are! Horsemanship teaches patience haha 😛

The Icelandic Riding Levels, or Knapamerki in Icelandic, is a very thorough and systematic teaching system for the basic horsemanship up to a pretty advanced level, both practical and theoretics. They were created by Holar University and Helga Thoroddsen, which is where my story in Iceland began. So, pretty full circle to be following my daughter through this process now 🫶
