Heaven Kozlowski schooling "Joey"

Heaven schooling "Joey". Putting some time under saddle to get the green out of this boy! Trot work today, working on keeping him forward at the trot and to move off the aids better. Next week after one more session hopefully, we will introduce ground poles under saddle. Heaven and Joey also had a bit of ground work done first in the round pen before she mounted to make sure he would listen to her, and not look to me for instruction. Joey is 7 and he has only ever had one rider before me. Joey rides both English and Western.

A full morning of schooling horses today, with Heaven riding Joey and Lex under English seat. Just working on keeping them forward, and conditioning them into a more fit horse. This is Lex's first lope this year, and he is strictly western pleasure, and Heaven is strictly an English/Jumper rider... But we made it work today. Lex's usual saddle is out for repairs, hence the English seat today.... This is Joeys first schooling in the round pen, and he was a good boy for Heaven, and I am breaking down, and decided to school him with a snaffle, because with the side pull he pokes his nose out and don't understand contact or "on the bit" with that particular bit less bridle. It was a good morning, and we got two horses worked before noon! One more schooling session like this, and then we will be on to ground poles after the next session.
