Bubbles is eating and purring this morning.

We are still dealing with sneezing and snotting (not sh*ts and giggles) but he is on the right path. 5 lbs for a 1 year old un-neutered male is not a great weight but we are hopeful that with the proper meds and good nutrition, that Bubbles will fully recover. Thank goodness he was found when he was.

Hello from Oakley/Pablo and Oz/Phineas. Pablo has a cat and dog brother and his dog brother just loves him and vice versa. The cat is taking time to get use to Pablo. Phineas is enjoying the love but Lotus is taking her time to warm up to Phineas. It's all time and patience and love. They are both very happy and that's all that matters.

Looking for a foster and/or adoptive home for a 3.5 year old solid grey short haired male neutered cat. The foster home must NOT have any other cats.

This a re-homing situation. Bernie was adopted from us in September of 2021 and for some reason has taken to randomly attacking the elder cat in the home. Despite every attempt to address and alleviate the situation; last night he hurt her.

He is an affectionate, playful and loving cat but we have to do what is best for his older housemate Lexi who is 12.5 years old and has lived there all her life.

He gets along well with the dog and the other cat in the home but don't want to take a chance on placing him with another cat at this point.

If interested in fostering him, contact us at [email protected].

If interested in adopting him, complete the application at https://form.jotform.com/71365782831260

There is no adoption fee required BUT you still must go through the adoption process.

YESTERDAY WAS EMERGENCY SATURDAY!

Yesterday we had calls about two emergencies. One was a cat that was injured and the other was a cat in serious distress.

Both had to be rushed to the vet. We would like to thank Janet for transporting the first one.

Cat #1

The injured cat was found to be paralyzed on the back end with no control over bodily functions. The humane thing was done and the cat was euthanized after speaking with the person who found him. Our volunteers named him Dale and he will go for communal cremation.

Cat #2

This cat's body temp was low and he had an upper respiratory infection with snot bubbles coming out his nose. Very malnourished. He was quite miserable when taken in. Not sure of age. He was being slowly warmed up through the night. This morning there is less nasal discharge and he is moving around a bit but has not eaten yet. He has an ulcer inside his left cheek. We will know more as time progresses. We think he is just over a year old. For this one we thank Nicole for transport.

Even though neither of these cats fit our mandate of Trap-Neuter-Return, it is hard to not respond when everyone else is closed. We have very dedicated, loving and compassionate volunteers and I personally am so grateful for that as I was off yesterday dealing with a loss in my own family.

We also want to thank Dr. Hodder at Abercrombie Animal Hospital for once again dealing with our After Hours Emergencies. We hate having to bother the vets after hours but sometimes it is completely unavoidable.

If anyone would like to donate towards the vet bill, you can etransfer us at [email protected]. We can honestly say that the money goes to where it is needed; to the animals!

Pray for Bubbles (yes Nicole called him Bubbles....). He is pretty run down and will need all our love. The vet figures he is at least 1 year old and only weighs 5 lbs.

Happy Friday evening from Bart and Homer. They had lots of company today so they got some snuggle time in. Still no playing when people are in the room but as soon as you close the door you can hear them running and jumping. It will be fun to watch their development. Love to!.

We have received messages asking why we would not assist in an area of Guysborough County as there was a "lady" posting all over the place about a colony needing help. This "lady" made it sound, to anyone who would listen, that CARMA would not assist.

While we cannot get into the particulars we will respond. When a person states they do not plan to remain at the property, we cannot assist as a caregiver waiver must be signed. How can you sign saying you will care for the cats when you don't want or plan to be there?

You must follow our instructions and that means we have access to all cats and kittens on the property. So when you start giving the kittens away, you have voided the agreement. Why do we care? Because our mandate is to ensure all cats and kittens on that property are spayed and neutered. If they can be socialized, they will go through our adoption program.

This person followed none of this, shot her mouth off to anyone who would listen and tried to manipulate numerous groups into assisting knowing full well that she would not follow instructions.

We spoke to another family in the area and they were willing to go through the process to get the cats/kittens TNR'ed in the spring. It was to be taken care of but that wasn't good enough for the "lady".

If the other family in the area would still like TNR done, it will be handled in the spring.

We are tired of being vilified. We do great work and yes, we follow a process; a process that has been developed over years of trial and error. We will not bow to bullies and whiners.

The end.
