Sky and Letty enjoying a swim in the pond on this hot afternoon.
We attended the Edmonton Kennel Club show this last weekend. We were treated to breed competition with 4 and 5 smooths entered. This is a rare phenomenon in Alberta these days. Letty (Venandi’s Fast and the Flurrious) took 2 BOB, 1 WB and 2 BPIG’s. I’m very proud of this almost 9 month old puppy!
The foxies all agree that playing in the sprinkler is a great way to spend a hot afternoon!
This little squirrel was caught red handed stuffing the birdhouse with pine cones 😂
Sven formerly Saul is getting pampered 😂
Someone forgot to tell Skye that she’s not a bird dog. I have to admit I’m impressed with her patience 😂
Sky is the only one brave enough to play with the 7 week old puppies. With that said she still keeps a safe distance from sharp puppy teeth 🤣
It's been many years since it's been this warm in November. The dogs are certainly enjoying every moment of it.
Sky finished up a great weekend at our local kennel club show with 5 BOB’s, 5 BPIG, a group 3 and a BPIS. She also finished her Canadian Championship this weekend. Yolo won one BOB and 4 Best of Opposite also finishing up his Canadian Championship. Thank you to Georgena Graham and Jan Edmunds for all your help this weekend. It was greatly appreciated!
Betty Boop has her eyes open a full day before the boys!
Piper enjoying an Alberta spring bath!
Just no appreciation for the cleaning lady 😂
“Whir!” Roars the big bad vacuum.
“I’m not scared of you!” Barks the tiny brave terrier puppy.
And fiercely tugs the beasts lifeline.
The noisy cleaning beast goes silent for another day.
It warmed up enough that the puppies where able to go outside today! They were thrilled!
I took a break from being a puppy nanny to attend a scent detection seminar with Yolo this weekend. Lee Anne Rogers has been away from Cold Lake for close to 10 years. During that time she earned her instructors certificate for the National Association of Canine Scent Work (ANWI). Everyone who attended this weekend learned so much. I look forward to learning more about the sport of Scent Detection.
Best buds Yolo and Piper sharing a chew stick on a cold afternoon.
My all time favorite grooming tool for my smooths is a grooming stone. I find that this tool works like no other to remove dead topcoat while leaving the insulating undercoat. I find that my smooths molt heavily twice per year. Once in the fall to get rid of the lighter summer hair like what you see in this video to make room for the thicker winter coat. Then in the spring again when they do really heavy shed to get rid of both dead topcoat and thick winter undercoat. A great money saving tip is that you can buy these same stones for a fraction of the price as BBQ grill stones. The next photo I provided shows how much coat I took out with just this stone in 20 minutes.
