It's 30 degrees out.

Do not leave your animal in your car while you shop.

Lowering the windows, and leaving them water will not prevent heat stroke.

You cannot control the check-out time to pick up your bottles of wine and 6 pack of beer at Metro, even though the check-outs are usually efficient.

If you think it's fine, take it as a challenge to sit in your car under the same conditions, with the sun beating down.

As we plan plan plan for our 2024 fundraising events....

We remind that we still have some spots for our Transport sponsored day Feb 29th leaving from Arnprior area. *if you are in the Renfrew area and need a ride to get your cat to Arnprior in the am/pm, we have volunteers ready. So reach out

Here is the deal. No it isn't free.
- We do our best to sponsor a portion of the cost to help as many people as we can.
- We provide transport for individuals who don't drive, don't have a car, can't take the entire day off work, or simply need the help.
- All we ask is that paperwork is filled out, deposit is sent.

So if you are interested in a spot, email us at [email protected]

Females are $150 + HST
Males are $100 + HST
Deposit of $56.50 is required to hold your spot (not to us, so don't send it until we approve you :) and this will be taken off your balance)

Transportation is $25

Peavey Mart Arnprior will be our meet location on Feb 29th. Must be able to bring your cat around 6:30am (ask a friend if you need help) and pickup by 6pm.

FAQ - Do I have to bring a dog?

Answer - Nope! If you don't bring a dog, then demo dog Lady will help you practice the hands-on skills!

As the owner, you know best if your dog would do well in a classroom setting that has other animals.

Some dogs are reactive, immunocomprimized, seniors who dont like to travel, or just love being at home!

A huge THANK YOU to our friends over at BeaverTails Mobile Pembroke-Peterborough, Pawramedics Pet First Aid, Groomingdale's Renfrew with Candice, as well as our generous customers who came out last weekend in support of Riverview Rescues! Together with your help we managed to raise $1218.59 in just 2 days! We will be continuing to collect donations all month, trying to reach our goal of $3161! 💕🐕

Did you know you know our Pet First Aid courses are BYOD-optional?

Bring Your Own Dog is an option, with about 75% of people bringing their pup.

If your pup would be too stressed here, if you're a cat-only-parent, or you are getting prepared for a new member of the family - don't worry! Typically there are lots of friendly pups in class, but we do also have Lady the Demo dog in each class!

The HolliBell Foundation is hosting another awesome fundraiser to support some furry friends in need.

This is a great auction, with all sorts of animal and non animal themed items to bid on.

In early 2023, Pawramedics Pet First Aid will also be hosting a fundraising Pet First Aid course as a fundraiser for the cause!

We recently hosted a Dog First Aid and CPR course for students at Arnprior District High School.

Although we don't have many photos to share, we thought we'd take the time to regale you with an important lesson we saw first hand during the course:

Communication is so problematic between animals and their people - it can be really hard to tell how an animal is really feeling.

Safe spaces are so important for your dog, cat, and even hampster. Lady's safe space has always been her crate.

At some point during the class, she had had enough the petting, love, and prodding. She went into her cage and took a nap - this is part of the reason we have dog manikins.

Instead of needing to communicate discomfort, or escalating to aggressive behaviors, she checked herself into her quiet space. The class new that while in there, Lady was not available.

There is no 911 for dogs and cats. In an emergency, your pet relies on your instincts to get them out of trouble.
