Canadian Friesian Horse Association

Canadian Friesian Horse Association WHY DO WE NEED A CANADIAN FRIESIAN REGISTRY? And the registration papers from foreign registries are in languages not easily read by most Canadians.

The Canadian Friesian Horse Association (CFHA) was started in May, 2008 by a group of Friesian enthusiasts with a vision of developing a Canadian Association that would be a home to Friesians, Arabo Friesians & Friesian Sporthorses in Canada. In the past we Canadians have had to join foreign registries in order to register our Friesian horses, which often resulted in long wait times for registrati

on papers and involved paying fees in foreign funds which can fluctuate tremendously. Inspections and judging tours have not typically been held in Canada forcing breeders and owners to travel extensively throughout the USA and Europe to have their horses evaluated, resulting in extra and unnecessary costs. Canadian owned Friesians are less likely to participate in national equestrian awards programs offered by the foreign registries because these programs do not extend to Canadian members. To that end it was seen as a necessary and timely endeavor to establish an official Canadian Friesian Horse Association (CFHA) to serve owners and breeders of Friesian, Arabo Friesians & Friesian Sport horses in Canada. The CFHA strives to provide Canadian Friesian breeders, owners, and enthusiast with access to affordable professional advice and services in order to breed, register, evaluate and award these magnificent animals in accordance with the breeding standards and rules of their mother studbooks and the Canadian Animal Pedigree Act. Thank you for supporting the Canadian Friesian Horse Association.
