These words may seem like the opposite of world kindness day. This is a reminder our staff/ team are people who experience high stress situations on the daily. Our front staff go from talking about kitten/ puppy appointments to booking euthanasia appointments and having clients crying with them. Our veterinarians go from those happy annuals to having to tell owners their pet is dying. Our techs and ACA’s go from cuddling those young happy pets to helping hold as we’re getting ready to say goodbye to patients.

This is a reminder to be kind and patient (this goes to the staff as well). Behind the doors and phones are conversations we dread on the daily, it takes a toll on everyone’s mental health and some days be really hard. As humans we need to remember that verbal abuse will not be tolerated and to take a step back to think about how to approach a conversation.

As we celebrate world kindness day it’s always good to remember empathy, compassion and random acts of
Kindness.
We thank all of our clients for being understanding and kind to the staff as we will do the same for you! 🥰

You may recognize this boy as the kitty who sits on the desk wearing amazing costumes, this is Weber. Weber is our office Manager, Lauren’s cat. Weber was diagnosed with a heart disease when he was a young cat, he was predicted to have 6 months. Weber beat those odds by living another 3 years. Weber was one of a kind who unfortunately succumbed to his heart condition over the weekend.
Please be patient with us as we mourn the loss of one of our own.
Weber will be truly missed ❤️💔

Halloween is all fun and games until it’s not! Here are some great tips to keep our furry friends safe this year.
1) Keep Halloween candy keep up high and in cupboards to ensure our furry friends can’t get into it. Especially chocolate which is very toxic to dogs 🍫
2) Give your dog a frozen treat to keep them occupied and relaxed as the doorbell continues to ring. 🍭
3) If your pet gets anxious with people coming and going or loud noises keep them in a safe place such as a kennel, bedroom, or living room with a baby gate to keep the protected
4) Remember some kids or adults don’t enjoy dogs running up to them! Keep them on a leash in the house if your dog wants to be at the door with you.

Have a Happy Halloween 🎃 👻

Just a friendly reminder that Halloween is exciting for us humans however for our furry friends it can be dangerous.
Please keep candy, chips and chocolate out of reach from our pets! Otherwise you might find them in this same position as this lovely lab 🥰❤️

You may hear on occasion we will need to do dental X-rays to confirm the teeth are sturdy. You may ask yourself/ the vet why?
In the first photo you see a healthy root. This tooth does not need to be extracted. But slide to the second photo. This root is being absorbed into the gum cavity, it will need to extracted to prevent infection and/ or pain in this patients mouth. Photo number 3 is what this tooth looks like on the outside, at a quick glance this tooth looks fine! But with the X-ray it shows severe periodontal disease! 🦷🪥

Date: October 10th
Time: To be decided!

Is My Dog Eligible?
Healthy dogs who are over 55lbs and between the ages of 1-8 can join the pack! We also require that donors be up-to-date on their core vaccines/titres. We understand donating is not for every dog, and we want it to be a positive experience for everyone - so please consider your dog's temperament if you are considering signing up! Canine donors are required to lay on their side for approximately 3-5 minutes, which can be quite inconvenient for some of our busier furry friends! We also have a few people in the room during the process, comfortably and gently holding your dog, so donor dogs should be comfortable with cuddles!

Can I Stay With My Dog?
Yes - providing you feel your pet would prefer it, and you are comfortable seeing a blood donation yourself! We even encourage owners to stand at their dog's head throughout the donation.

We have some exciting news!!!!

Did you know that your dog could be a hero?
Exciting news - we have launched a new partnership with the canadiananimalbloodbank, and will be hosting a Blood Donor Clinic! This means we will need some help from our furry friends who fit the eligibility and are willing to step up and save other dogs across Canada!
In the next few days we will posting what makes your dog eligible to be a blood donor!
