On January 15, 2025, Caledon OPP received two reports of males ages 14- to 16-year-old that fell victim to sextortion. In both cases, they believed they were engaging in an online chat with a female and sent intimate images. They were then extorted with the suspects demanding money in exchange for not distributing the pictures.
The investigations are ongoing, with the assistance from the Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit and the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or Peel Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
The OPP remains committed to ensuring the public is aware of the many potential threats to public/personal safety in the real and virtual world and encourages everyone to ensure their online presence is as safe as it can be. Parents are also encouraged to talk with their children about the potential threats they may encounter when using the Internet, social media, email and their mobile devices. Inform them that they can trust you and that they should not deal with these types of situations alone.
For anyone finding themselves in a sextortion situation, remember these simple steps:
• Stop the chat
• Take screenshots of the chat and profile
• Block the account and report it to the platform
• Report it to http://Cybertip.ca or police
• Get support through http://Cybertip.ca
Don't send any more images, don't pay, don't respond to demands, and don't continue the conversation.

It is an offence under Canada's Criminal Code 162.1 (1) to share intimate images of a person without the consent of the person in the image. This offence came into force on March 10, 2015. This law applies to everyone, not just people under 18. The purpose of this offence is to protect the privacy a person has in his or her nudity or sexual activity. Several other Criminal Code offences also deal with bullying, including cyberbullying and extortion.

The are investigating a theft from the LCBO in where over $1000 of alcohol was stolen. The OPP are seeking assistance in identifying the individual and/or vehicle in the photo. The individual is described as male, 5’9”, wearing red puma shoes, jeans, red Buffalo Sabres toque, grey jacket, black hoodie with a tattoo on the left side of his neck. The vehicle is a black charger with licence plate DCCD100. This individual has been involved in other thefts from LCBO’s around the province.
The Grey Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information or if you see this vehicle around, to call 1-888-310-1122 or your local Police Department .

Why trust matters in policing
Trust in policing is earned, not given. Over the years, I’ve seen too many instances of abuse of power, misconduct, and a lack of accountability within the Woodstock Police. These experiences have eroded my trust, and I know I’m not alone.
This is why I’m pushing for a civilian oversight board—because no one, including the police, should be above accountability. This board would ensure transparency, fairness, and justice for everyone in our community. It’s not about being anti-police; it’s about making sure they serve and protect us—not themselves.
Together, we can rebuild trust and create a system that works for everyone.

A woman has been charged after a man suffered serious life-altering injuries when attacked by a pack of dogs while jogging in West Grey. The 58-year-old man was attacked by a group of five to 10 dogs while out jogging on the Glenelg-Holland Townline earlier this month, West Grey Police Chief Robert Martin said on Wednesday.

The attack, which police say lasted several minutes, ended when a passing motorist chased off the pack of dogs. The motorist then took the man to hospital in Markdale.

West Grey police, West Grey Animal Services and Grey Bruce Public Health conducted an investigation into the incident, and a 69-year-old woman from West Grey was arrested on Tuesday and charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

She is under strict conditions in relation to control of the dogs. The dogs are in quarantine pending a hearing to determine what will happen to the animals, Martin said.

All of the dogs involved, which were mixed-breed, belonged to the same owner, he added.

The woman is scheduled to appear in court in Walkerton at the end of February to answer to the charge.

Martin said the victim, who is now out of hospital, will require a number of reconstructive surgeries on his legs and arms, some of which have already taken place.

Saugeen Shores Police are investigating a report of a threat to Saugeen District Senior School.
In the late hours of January 12th 2025, Staff and concerned parents contacted police after screenshot images of a Snapchat conversation involving several youth began to circulate.
The threats were being made from a Snapchat user profile under a fake name.
A detailed investigation was subsequently initiated and police were able to identify the person responsible for the messages.
Police have been working with school officials throughout the night and are keeping them updated as the investigation continues.
There is no evidence to suggest an imminent risk at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
