Don't let its cute appearance fool you! Meet Phyllobates terribilis, commonly known as the golden poison dart frog. Native to the rainforests of Colombia, it is one of the most toxic creatures on the planet! Just a single gram of its potent toxin, batrachotoxin, could take out around 10,000 mice or about 20 adult humans.

Indigenous people have known this for centuries—hence the name “dart frog.” They would carefully rub their blow darts on the frog's skin to coat them with the toxin for hunting.

But here’s a twist: when bred and grown up in captivity, these frogs are actually harmless! The toxic compounds they use are believed to come from their natural diet of ants, beetles, and other small insects in the wild. Without their usual food sources, they lose their lethal edge over time.

🧐 To find the electric, blue-colored William's dwarf gecko, the Exo Terra team advanced deep into the Tanzanian Kimboza Forest. In dense forests, most day gecko species live on plants or trees with smooth surfaces like palms, bamboo, or pandanus.

Calotes calotes or the green garden lizard is common in Sri Lanka with a wide distribution from lowland plains to mid-hill forests. It is a highly arboreal lizard, found in both forests and anthropogenic (man-made) habitats such as home gardens and plantations.

The bright green dorsal coloration usually features 5 or 6 white cream or light green transverse stripes continuing on the tail. The male develops a bright red head and throat in the breeding season and when excited while the adult female always remains green during her lifetime.
