Love at first sight can be a bit rare for rabbits, but once they bond , boy do they love each other for life! Our rabbits will choose to be snuggled together like this even when it is +30 outside!

Our rabbits provide a great reminder that love exists across all species 🐰 🐷 🐴

We hope you get to spend today with your loved ones, whom ever that may be 💚

Resident spotlight 🎬🔦 Nugget ❤️

Officially meet Nugget! This sweet little man was born in April and found his way to us after getting a lucky break. Like so many others, his fate was not initially to be rescued.

Nugget's former home breeds sheep for market. Born a triplet, his mom struggled to produce enough milk for all the babies and and quickly became the runt of his litter mates. His human caregiver developed a bond with him after bottle-feeding him and opted to send him to a sanctuary, rather than increase his weight for an eventual trip to market. He was therefore surrendered to safety as we were looking for a companion for our other sheep Peanut, who had been lovely since his brother Popcorn's passing.

We are beyond excited for Nugget's new journey. He will only know love and safety at .a.r.m._ and we can't wait to watch him grow into a beautiful mature sheep, peacefully and in dignity.

Did you know? It is so easy helping us take care of our sheep family! Here are some easy ways you can donate and keep the sanctuary going and help them thrive:

- make a one-time donation;

-make a monthly donation;

- donate your bottles;

- check out our wish list and donate gently used or new items

- donate your time!

A huge thank you to Tovie at for her donation of a couple of halters to us! Tovie is helping some of our volunteers with building trusting, non-coercive and respectful relationships with our horses. Especially with our boy Billy, who has been greatly harmed by humans and requires much patience and a gentle touch.

The guiding philosophy at Horse Encounters of the Best Kind is to listen. The horses speak a fantastic and beautiful language. But like with all animals, humans oftentimes impose such restrictive, coercive and ineffective handling methods that most people have forgotten that animals have a voice. If you are looking to learn more about how to better relate to horses, please check her out at:

Our stunning girl Old Major is doing well, considering her recent loss of her sister Snowball. We are keeping a close eye on her and ensuring she has everything she needs to thrive despite her now being alone.

Pigs do best when living in groups of kins, so we are pleased to see that she is eating, drinking, and allowing belly rubs. Let's hope for continued good health and her emotional needs met for this extraordinary being.

We are devastated to let you know that we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Snowball today. Unfortunately and as is common in pigs bred for the agricultural industry, her weight and size made it difficult to recover from a leg injury, and she suffered a complete loss of mobility in her back legs. The best we could do for her was to provide her the most humane and kind option and send her across the rainbow bridge.

Fly free now sweet girl, and say hi to Popcorn for us 💔 We will do our very best to take care of Old Major, your sister and constant companion. You will forever be loved and remembered.

Beautiful, bold, sensitive Peanut!

It has now been 10 long days since Peanut lost his best buddy Popcorn. We are still completely heartbroken – but we are also keeping a very close eye on Peanut. The two were tightly bonded.

Sheep are flock animals, and evidence widely supports sheep living in flocks of at least 3. They should never be alone unless integrated into another herd. They form deep meaningful relationships, and rely on each other for comfort, grooming, play, and cuddles. They also grieve when they lose one of their own. Peanut and Popcorn always cuddled close, and they would defend each other whenever one was mischievous and getting into trouble! Although they can form bonds with other species, ultimately it is never the same and sharing that bond with a kin is critical to their health.

So we are keeping a close eye on our Peanut, and monitoring for signs of grief and loneliness – hanging his head low, avoiding contact and attention (Peanut has always been a big ball of affection), no appetite, and an overall look of being lost. He is searching for Popcorn still but to date, his spirits seem ok. We are considering all of our options to make sure that Peanut continues to thrive in our care and to meet his emotional needs. He is lovingly cared for, and we will do all we can to meet his needs.

Please consider supporting our work so that we can continue to care for our beautiful animals. We spend several hours a day taking care of our residents, and the cost of hay, food, and shelter maintenance is high. Here are some easy ways you can donate and keep the sanctuary going and help them thrive:

Rosie is so stunning! Always curious, always protective of her girls Lilly and Gracie. After Popcorn left us, the family of three came into the barn where he was last with us and laid on his old bed, quiet, and stayed motionless for a while. It is astounding, how perceptive animals truly are, and how much we deny them this simple recognition.

It is with immense sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a very special resident: Popcorn. He passed away today peacefully, surrounded by many of our volunteers. Thank you to everyone who has ever cared for Popcorn during his time .a.r.m._

If you had the pleasure of meeting Popcorn, you’ll remember him as a cheeky, friendly fellow who was always one of the first residents to greet you. He was very small and shy when he first came to us, but quickly became outgoing and playful with everyone who came to visit him. He will be dearly missed by our volunteers and our other residents, especially Peanut with whom he was tightly bonded.

Rest easy now sweet boy. We will care for your brother Peanut 🌈💔❤️‍🩹
