Hello from the Municipal Dog Pound!

Mark Your Calendars! The Betty White Challenge is this Friday, January 17th, 2025!


Get ready to celebrate the legacy of the beloved Betty White and her lifelong dedication to animal welfare during the 4th annual . This special day is a chance for us all to honour her by making a difference in the lives of animals in need. By donating $5 (or more) to our Municipal Dog Pound, you will be helping to keep her incredible spirit alive.


The Backstory

The started in 2022, inspired by Betty White’s passing on December 31st, 2021, just weeks before her 100th birthday on January 17th. Each year on her birthday, we come together to celebrate her tireless advocacy for animals and raise funds to support animal shelters, rescues, and other organizations. Betty’s love for animals—big or small—continues to inspire millions around the globe.


The Challenge

On January 17th, please consider donating a minimum of $5 in Betty White’s name to our Municipal Dog Pound. Your donation will directly support our local efforts to care for abandoned and stray dogs. Funds raised will provide food and a safe, warm place for these dogs. Every dollar matters, together, we can make a lasting impact.

Dec. 14, 2014 remembering 10 years ago, a team of hard working volunteers who helped construct a new dog run and play area at the Municipal Dog Pound with a generous donation by Archambault from the estate of her mother Lorna Irene Kerr Archambault, and a rescue dog named Buddy.

A quote from Lorna, “I believe that all creatures, great and small, are a very special part of our world. They are God’s unique creation and ‘gift’ to humanity. Domesticated animals are our hero’s, our helpers, our loyal companions, our best friends. They have saved lives in times of peace and war, comforted the old, the sick and the lonely. They brighten the eyes of a child, make us laugh and cry, provide a reason to take a good long walk, and teach us how to live and how to love. We have the utmost responsibility to treat our earth and all creation with respect and humility, being good stewards of this planet and all of its inhabitants. Owning an animal is a privilege, not a right!”

July, 2024 the Municipal Dog Pound Board approved the new construction of roofs over the outside kennels, a storage shed, fencing and other improvements.

The Municipal Dog Pound provides a safe and caring environment for lost dogs looking to be reunited with their family or to be rehomed.
