Dr Uvi Singh (a.k.a Doc Bowtie) is having a birthday! 🎂 All the staff here want to make sure he knows how much we appreciate the work environment he has created. Renata is our hospital manager and does a fantastic job of making sure everything here at Animal Hospital on Bell Farm Road runs smoothly. Her knowledge and experience in veterinary medicine as well as administration make her the perfect person for this important role! 🩺

Renata started in vet med by managing the kennel staff of a clinic and then was trained as a technician to help with appointments. This means that she can frequently be found away from her desk to help with procedures and appointments when our team needs an extra set of hands. 🐾

Renata completed a certificate program in aromatherapy for pets with The Essential Oil Vet, Dr Janet Roark, so she is a great person to ask about how different smells can improve your pet’s health. This, coupled with her background in holistic nutrition, makes her a perfect fit for our hospital’s goal to approach medicine from all perspectives. 🏥

Sign up for classes starting next Wednesday, October 30th and get a trick or treat bag so your dog is ready to go door to door once class is over. The bag will also get them started with a few Halloween goodies! 🎃

Junior Kindergarten is at 6:00pm
Adult Education is at 7:00pm

Junior Kindergarten is a group puppy class for dogs under 5 months old to learn the basics and get started with socialization. 👻

Adult Education is for dogs older than 5 months to get started with obedience training and more (or get a refresher on their skills around distractions). 🐾

Coming to group training classes is about more than JUST the training. There are many perks and this list just scratches the surface, but some reasons to consider group dog training classes include:

1️⃣ Group classes have built in distractions because of the new environment, the other canine students in class, and the humans who attend. Training at home or attending private lessons means you miss out on the chance to train through these challenges.

2️⃣ While some specific training challenges may need more one-on-one attention, most behaviours can be worked on in a group class at a fraction of the cost of private training.

3️⃣ Even if you have lots of experience with training dogs, there is always more knowledge to gain. Even professional dogs trainers attend classes with their own dogs to benefit from a different trainer’s perspective.

4️⃣ Since you will have homework to work on for your classes, it can help you stay on a schedule so your training doesn’t get put on the back burner and you lose track of your progress.

5️⃣ Having a class once a week with your dog carves out some special time for the two of you to go out and learn together. You will also learn valuable communication tools to continue building your relationship with them.

COHATs (Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatments) include so much more than just a dental cleaning! During your pet’s annual preventative consultation, we’ll always examine their teeth as part of their exam, but contact us to book an appointment if you are concerned about their oral health. 🦷

Oral healthcare is an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to your pet’s overall well-being. Dental issues that seem small can snowball into other problems, which is why looking in your pet’s mouth is part of every annual preventative consult. 🦷

When pets need more than just routine brushing to get their oral health back into tip-top shape, we book them in for a COHAT (Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment). This is much more involved than just a cleaning, and is one of the most in-depth procedures we regularly perform here at Animal Hospital on Bell Farm. 🪥

Daniella is a new addition to the Animal Hospital on Bell Farm Road team. She did such a great job during her co-op placement for her schooling to become a Registered Veterinary Technician that we decided to keep her. 🩺

Daniella is always eager to learn more skills to be the best at her job she can be, and it shows in the quality of her work. She is dedicated to quality client care and goes the extra mile for each case she works on. 🐾

She is particularly interested in anesthesia, dental care, and animal behaviour. As she continues along this career path, she plans to seek out more knowledge in these areas. 📚

The whole team here appreciates Daniella’s positive attitude and work ethic. We were excited to be part of her journey through school and are now excited to be part of her ongoing professional development. 🐶

When you’ve browsed through different diets for your puppy, have you ever wondered how important it is to feed puppies specific puppy diets instead of starting them on adult food right away? 🐾

Puppy diets provide the correct ratio of nutrients to help puppies bones and joints develop properly. This is especially true for large breed puppies! 🦴

We know how coveted evening appointment slots are so we are adding more! Starting in October, we will be open until 7pm instead of 4pm on Wednesdays. 🐾

Melissa’s love for animals fuels her desire to work in the field of veterinary medicine. She loves all species and gives a warm welcome to patients coming in for exams. 🐾
