The Hound Lounge Inc. Welcome to Barrie’s most charming dog centre! First rate daycare, grooming & raw dog food. The Hou In addition to daycare we offer professional grooming.

The Hound Lounge is conveniently located at 80 Ellis Dr., Unit 1, in Barrie’s south end. It’s ideal for commuters; just minutes away from Hwy 400 and the Go Station. We also carry a great selection of hard to find frozen raw dog food.

It’s that time of year to start preparing for Canine Cough! We currently have no cases of Canine Cough and with your help we can try to prevent any spread.

Although Canine Cough can happen all year round, it is most prevalent during the summer months so it’s important to be aware so we can all do our parts. We have increased our cleaning protocols, pre screen dogs for signs of illness, and frequently air out the facility.

We ask that if your dog is showing any sign of illness (no matter the reason), please keep them home and notify us so we can keep track of possible cases. Canine Cough is tricky because dogs can carry it for several days before showing any symptoms. This means it is easy for this cough to sneak up before the first cough even comes. However, we feel with your help we can get ahead of this, and keep cases to a minimum (or zero!).

Please watch for the following symptoms:
- a cough (often with a “honking” sound)
- runny nose
- sneezing
- lethargy
- loss of appetite
- low fever

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us! Together we can ensure the health and happiness of dogs in our care. We thank you for your continued support 🐾❤️

Our July theme days are here! Mark your calendars 🗓️

We will be closed Monday July 1st for Canada Day. If your dog is on a reoccurring schedule for Mondays, we would be happy to reschedule them to a different day! 🇨🇦

Every Monday will be a Pool Party! The dogs will have some fun in the sun playing with different water toys. Don’t worry there’s lots of space for our sun bathers too! 🌊

Wednesday July 10th is our first enrichment day. Keep an eye on our social for more information about this!

Friday July 19th will be our second enrichment day of the month! More details to come.

Tuesday July 23rd is National Vanilla Ice cream Day. All the pups will enjoy a yummy ice cream cone while at daycare! 🍦

Finally, Wednesday July 31st is National Mutt Day. A day to celebrate all our wonderful mixed breed dogs! 🥰🐾

Tomorrow is a very exciting enrichment day! We will be doing Scent Work. The dogs will have different and fun scents to sniff.

A dogs sense of smell is their main sense. Sniffing is how dogs learn about the world around them. Sniffing is hugely beneficial for dogs and essential for their wellbeing. It’s also very stimulating for them. We’re excited to see their reaction to the different smells!

With this heat wave in effect it’s important to keep your pet safe by keeping them out of the heat! Try to only go for walks early in the morning or in the evening and never leave your pet in the car.

Better yet, drop them off with us for a day of fun inside! The A/C is on, water pots are refreshened frequently, and potty breaks are kept quick. You can trust your pup will still be tired without the risk of heat stroke!

All of our staff are trained in canine first aid and know the early signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Stay safe in this heat! ☀️

Today we say farewell and travel safe to Charlie and his family as they embark on a new adventure in their lives. Charlie started in daycare way back in 2016. 8 years, WOW! How the time flies. Charlie is best known for his incredible bear hugs and his calm and sweet demeanour. Charlie, you will be greatly missed. Thank you for all the wonderful memories over these past 8 years! See you soon good boy 🐾❤️
