It's National Truth & Reconciliation Day, and this sombre "holiday" is striking a chord with our team.
Seeking truth and reconciling with our decisions and our relationships is essential to living a meaningful life. The reflection, responsibility, and reparation that it calls for can lead to healing and growth—at the end of a lifetime, and throughout our lives. They're values that we hold very, very dear.
As a small step toward this healing, we'd like to share our Land Acknowledgement from AWAKE, that we encourage our clients to include in their ceremonies and rituals.
This Land Acknowledgement is in recognition of the First Peoples, who have been the stewards of this land and these waters—where we now live, love, work, and play—for thousands of years.
We give thanks for the privilege of being here,
and pay our respects to the generations of Indigenous Peoples, past and present, on whose traditional homeland we stand now: the Anishinaabe, in particular the Ojibway and Chippewa peoples, as well as the Wahta Mohawk First Nations.
May we continue to honour their lives and culture, on this journey to reconciliation.
