This story was shared from a client of mine. It breaks my heart. This poor sweet boy must have been so terrified and in excruciating pain, trying to make his way back to his family with a shattered leg.
We all love our fur babies and would be devastated if anything like this happened. The financial burden of the surgery and rehab will take a toll on this family.

WE NEED HELP ! WE ARE SHUT DOWN FOR INTAKE !
We desperately need to grow our foster home family.
What exactly is involved in fostering you ask?
Foster parents are volunteers who take cats into their homes & care for them while getting them ready for adoption. You will need a separate room to keep your foster kitties in e.g. spare bedroom, You will also need to be able to take cats to vet appointments & to/from adoption events. With the extreme cold we’ve been experiencing this week, please be mindful of the amount of time your pup spends outside in these temperatures! Dogs can be susceptible to hypothermia and frostbite just as we are. Sweaters/coats and booties are helpful if your pup will wear them. Breeds with thicker coats derived from cold climates will have a higher tolerance for cold but a general rule of thumb is - if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them. Puppies and senior dogs will have a more difficult time regulating their body temperature and certain health conditions can make a dog more susceptible to the cold.

Don’t leave your dog unsupervised outdoors when conditions are extreme. The best way to monitor your dog is to keep a close eye on their behavior. If you notice your dog shivering, acting anxious, whining, slowing down, searching out warm locations, or holding up one or more paws, it’s time to head inside and warm up.

Please don’t leave your dog outside in the cold.

UPDATE: OWNER FOUND, pup is back home. Thank you to everyone for sharing and to Barrie Animal Control for their assistance in getting this sweet boy back home to his family.

Young male dog (approx 9 months old?) found running loose on Holgate Street. Followed a lady with a walker from the IOOF for an hour, she brought him to me as she knows I have daycare dogs but he’s not one of mine. He’s very friendly and energetic. Possibly wofhound mix.

Dinner time!
All pups bring their own dinner when boarding with us at A Bark Above Dogcare. We often add things to give a little extra flavour; bone broth, fish oil, sardines, quail eggs, fresh veggies, fruit, etc. We’re careful to note any allergies, likes, dislikes, etc.
Tonight everyone here is on a raw diet except Bailey, but she was happy with her kibble, beef broth and sardines 🐟

I received a message that Sweet Annie passed away suddenly, at home surrounded by her family.
Annie started coming to A Bark Above Dogcare about a year ago at the ripe old age of 14, for some daycare and vacation stays. Although the years were slowing her down a bit and she had gone deaf, she was the happiest sweetest girl ever.
Annie loved spending time with her friends here, often seeming like a young pup again the way she came to life prancing and wrestling with her friends. She was always up for one of our forest hikes and found the best sticks and had so much fun swimming.
Annie you were so bright and happy when you visited us, you’ll be sadly missed. Rest easy sweet girl, I know you’re running and playing like a puppy again 🐾🌈❤️

Meet Bailey!
Bailey is a 9 month old puppy who is joining us 5 days a week while her human mom is at work. We are unsure of her breed but her mom is collie and she looks a lot like a Black Mouth Cur.
