Hi Everyone,
I don’t know how to start as im lost for words. I will be on a limited schedule as 13 days ago my husband was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital for emergency open heart surgery. He had a ruptured aneurysm in the main artery of his heart and it was torn. It was a long and life threatening surgery. He pulled though and I’m so grateful to still have him here. He is at home recovering and I’m am caring for him and working. I’m sorry if this causes any inconvenience to you. ❤️

Good Day Everyone

In this post I am going to tell you a little story on how I became a Dog Groomer.
My LOVE for animals started when I was a little girl. Walking home from school in Toronto I would find stray kittens and bring them home as I couldn't leave them on the streets. This continued for many years.
My first job that I enjoyed when I was 17 years old was working at Pet Valu in Scarborough but, that wasn't enough. A local veterinarian office was hiring. I apply and started work there a fee days later. It was an amazing experience but at a young age I couldn't deal with the daily heartbreaks of very sick pets, injured pet or pet going over the rainbow. I continued working in the Pet Valu store.
For many years I thought of how I could work with family pets. Then at 30 years old it clicked in that I wanted to become a pet groomer. I took the first step and went to school and received my diploma 4 months later and immediate was hired to work in a pet store as a groomer. I worked there for 2 years but again wanted more. I wanted to own my own dog grooming business. I found out that a local veterinarian was looking to rent out the basement of the building to a groomer. Well it happened 3 weeks later I owned my own business. My dream had come true. As the years went by I moved a few times and started over in new cities but always worked for myself. During those years I went to many seminars and workshops to upgrade my skills.
Now 25 years later I'm still in LOVE with my career. I dedicate my time and expertise to small dogs only working from my home grooming and pet sitting one dog at a time to insure they get one on one LOVE and CARE.
If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.

Stop the food immediately.
Report it to the FDA: https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/report-problem/how-report-pet-food-complaint
Contact your veterinarian. Request a copy of your pet's medical records. Report your concerns to the pet food company and ask your vet to do the same.
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS SURVEY https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S8SMQGD

*Update as of 1/4/24 - 213 dogs and cats (155 dogs, and 58 cats) sick eating Purina, 57 of which have died.

Since 12/5/23 in the 'Saving Pets One Pet @ A Time' group on Facebook there have been 48 dogs and 3 cats sick eating Purina, 10 of which have died. It seems to be from all different types of Purina, with Purina Pro Plan being the most common. If you or someone you know is feeding this food, I would stop immediately! Do NOT wait until your pet gets sick or Purina issues a recall.

info from Savings Pets One Pet @ a Time:

"Stop the food immediately. Post in the group above what your pets current diet is and medical conditions and we will help you find a more nutritious and safer diet.

Save the pet food. Do NOT release it to Purina in any circumstances.

Contact your vet and request a copy of your pets medical records. Ask the vet to report your concerns to Purina.

Report it to the FDA (https://truthaboutpetfood.com/report-a-suspect-risk-pet.../)

Report it to Purina (https://www.purina.com/contact-us)

Do NOT agree to send them the food. If you feel compelled to do so, only send a small portion. Keep the rest of the food in the freezer.

Do NOT send the medical records to Purina.

Document your conversation with Purina.

Purina may eventually say they will pay your vet bills and reimburse you for your pet food. If you agree to this they will ask you to sign a form which will prohibit you from taking legal action. Eventually, if there is a class action lawsuit you will be unable to join if you do this or if you want to file your own lawsuit.

Consider getting your pet food tested:(https://truthaboutpetfood.com/help-to-check-your-pet-food/) This would be helpful if you want to pursue legal action.

Purina has already been notified by numerous pet owners and they have not done anything to alert unsuspecting pet parents. Initially, there were offering to reimburse the pet owners for their pet food. Currently, they are offering pet parents $10 in coupons (which is what Hills offered me for my dead dog) and having a third party contact the pet parents.

Eventually, we may see Purina pet food become “unavailable” on the store shelves. This is called a silent recall. The pet food manufacturer doesn’t want to admit there is a problem with the product, so they start pulling the products off the shelves quietly. (Hills did this for 60 days before the recall)."

PSA: We adopted our dog, Rowdy, from the shelter 5 years ago. He was already an adult dog, so we estimate he is about 11 or 12 years old at this point. I love this dog. He is the sweetest soul and my BFF. For the past week or so he hasn’t been acting like himself. He licked a raw spot on his foot. He was panting constantly. He was pacing. Sunday morning, the pacing and panting got so bad, and I was REALLY nervous that there was something seriously wrong with him. For 45 minutes, he panted like crazy and constantly paced back and forth. He was keeping his tail tucked down all the time. His ears were pinned back. He would not settle down and he wouldn’t eat. We tried everything. I ended up giving him a trazadone that he takes sometimes when he goes to the groomer. It seemed to take a little bit of the edge off, but not much. He still wouldn’t eat and still wouldn’t settle. I took off work on Monday so I could take him to the vet. We did bloodwork and x-rays. Knowing he is a senior dog, I was trying to prepare myself for the worst case scenario. I was glad to see his bloodwork was great except for some elevated liver enzymes. The x-rays showed he was a little backed up but no major issues. He got an anti-nausea injection and some Gabapentin to help with some tenderness in his back and to hopefully help keep him calm. When we got home, he was ok for a little bit, but eventually started pacing and panting again. We walked around the neighborhood for a long time and he used the bathroom a lot. He seemed pretty happy about that and was in good spirits until we got home and he refused to come back in the house. Every time I took him out that evening, he would hunker down like he didn’t want to come back in the house. When my vet called and I gave her the update, she suggested there may be some new electronic device in the house that was emitting a high frequency noise that is hurting his ears. We had just put new smart outlets in the house about a week ago. His pacing and panting were worse when the lamps were on, so I unplugged all the smart outlets. He stopped panting, stopped pacing, and ate his food. His tail was even up and wagging again. When I plugged the smart outlets all back in and asked Alexa to turn on the lamps, he immediately started panting and pacing again. My husband used an app to test the frequency of the smart outlets. It was off the charts. We've left the outlets unplugged for two days and have confirmed that it is definitely the smart outlets that are causing his stress and discomfort. He's back to being a totally normal dog now. I really thought this was the end for Rowdy based on the way he was acting. I am so thankful for Dr. Newell at BoonesCreek AnimalHospital for figuring out this simple solution. If your pets are exhibiting similar symptoms, you may want to consider checking your electronics first. I cannot express how relieved I am that he is ok now. 😭♥️🐶
