ALLERCEPT is both an assessment and a treatment—in that order.

Atopic dermatitis patients first undergo a universal panel that’s highly specific for 83 allergens. ALLERCEPT’s patented Fc epsilon receptor can detect as little as 10 picograms of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to individual allergens within the blood.

These results, along with factors like patient history, the cross-reactivity of allergens, geographic location (using zip code), and pet owner preferences regarding the route of administration (shots vs. drops) are then used to develop a therapeutic solution made up of tiny amounts of allergen extracts to which the animal is sensitive.

The goal: To retrain the immune system so it stops overreacting to common substances, thereby reducing clinical signs and improving quality of life.

Itchy dogs and cats seem to get the most attention, but it’s estimated that up to 40% of horses are affected by atopic dermatitis (AD).1

What’s the best approach for providing long-term allergy relief?
Steroids? Neigh.
Antihistamines? Neigh.

Allergen-specific immunotherapy (i.e., the only treatment option that addresses the source of equine AD, not just the signs)? Hay, now we’re onto something!

The ALLERCEPT Allergy Assessment and Treatment Program uses an equine environmental panel of 91 allergens to pinpoint the offending substances and create highly targeted immunotherapy treatments in the form of oral drops or subcutaneous injections.

Plus, immunotherapy boasts an excellent safety profile and impressive response rates.2,3

Drake is a 3-month-old male golden doodle puppy who was diagnosed with hookworm parasites via f***l flotation.

After being treated with fenbendazole and metronidazole, Drake was still experiencing diarrhea and inappetence. On physical exam, Drake’s veterinary team noted he was thin (with signs of weight/muscle loss), lethargic, nauseous, and dehydrated, and that his intestines were diffusely thickened.

Concerned by how ill he was, Drake’s veterinarian recommended further diagnostic testing, including a f***l check with the KeyScreen® Parasite PCR Panel.

Just when his owners were agonizing over whether euthanasia was the best option for their beloved pet who wasn’t improving, Drake’s KeyScreen results revealed that another treatment path could offer hope.

Let World Zoonoses Day serve as a reminder to take care of YOU.

We understand how important the human-pet bond is. That's why our innovations, like KeyScreen® GI Parasite PCR, work to make a better world for pets (and people) every day.

“The human-pet bond is a strong one — for me, too. Our pets are our family, and because of this, diagnostic tests need to advance to protect them, their owners, and the broader community. KeyScreen was designed to help veterinarians screen and choose the right treatment path early, which also helps protect people living in the dogs’ and cats’ environment — a key component of the One Health initiative.”

— KeyScreen inventor Dr. Christian M. Leutenegger, veterinarian, pet-owner, and VP of Research and Development at Antech Diagnostics.
